Amila completed a Bachelor of Science degree with specialization in psychology, followed by a Master of Arts degree in forensic psychology. She is continually learning, training, and evolving to maintain or exceed the high standards governing the psychology profession in Alberta. She spent almost nine years working as a Civilian Member for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, which includes several years as an emergency dispatcher. Prior to this, she worked as a crisis counsellor in the area of domestic violence. A combination of specialized education and diverse life experience allows her to provide the individualized, client-centred care you deserve.
She is passionate about providing empirically-sound, trauma-sensitive interventions with an emphasis on client collaboration. While Amila only works with adults – with focus on first responders and military – she celebrates and welcomes diversity in all forms. She is able to work with a diverse range of presenting problems while specializing in posttraumatic stress, anxiety disorders, and depression. She is committed to helping you in your mental health journey and employing skills that will stay with you for life.
