Blanco Cantina - Calgary

Great location. Nice interior with good vibes and lovely hosts. We had 4 different types of drinks and they were awesome. ? Was good. (Not the best) Definitely will go back. .

One of the best happy hours in town. Try the $6 raspberry jalapeno margarita asap. P.s. they have an amazing plant based menu ?

Parking at this location is horrendous, do they not think of these things when designing a restaurant? If you don’t own a compact car be prepared to walk 2 blocks from the Mall. Tequila was good, service was just OK, some items not available: queso, street corn at 6:00 p.m. reservation. Taco’s we’re definitely not great, seemed to be cheating on toppings from other Blanco experiences, especially the shrimp tacos ? General consensus was that food was not up to usual standards, besides table-side guacamole, which was great. Really a downer, as Blanco is/was my favorite Mexican restaurant - will go to Salt & Pepper next time.

I am giving this experience a 3, because I cant give a 3.5. While I have been to Blanco in the past and had some decent experiences, after my visit last night for the half priced happy hour I am not sure if I will be back any time soon. Happy hour at Blanco is usually a good time, it offers great food at a very reasonable price and provides a nice atmosphere to get together with some friends. Last night however, the food and atmosphere was not there. While I understand that late night happy hour is put in place for a reason, if it is being advertised there should be no drop in the quality of food. Which is what I experienced last night. There was definitely something off with the veggies being used as topping for the tacos. So much so, that all 3 of us at the table were dumping the cabbage out of our food by the end of the meal. Another thing we realized is that the music kept being turned up as the night went on. Felt like a tactic to get the groups of people in the restaurant out sooner, but if you have people in your restaurant at 9pm on a Wednesday, up in the suburbs should you really be kicking them out? For reference my table left at 10:15 and Blanco closes at 11 so I didn't feel like we were in the wrong.

Nice interior. Super friendly and attentive staff! Great Margaritas and food! I loved it that the Guacamole ? is prepared at the table, doesn’t get any fresher than that! For us it is a great new discovery in the neighbourhood. We definitively will go back for drinks/food ??

Great menu and service. The various margarita flavours and the high quality meat choices for the tacos are highlights. There is free two-hour parking on the street and underground.

This is the best Blanco in the city. However, when you compare it to some other hidden gems in this city; it has room to grow. Mainly, Blanco offers a best in Calgary Tequila menu with many imported bottles that are rare to come by in Western Canada. That said, you pay a hefty penny for the tequila pours, I tried mine on the rocks with a hint of lime. On these grounds, it is an absolute must to come during happy hour from 2-5 pm, where the tequila goes half off and you can get a standard pour of high quality sauce. Margaritas were great, done well and proper. Kinda like a nice steak but think in this case TEQUILA. The tacos here are pretty great with 4 to 5 hot sauces added. Here, I would like to see an ultra spicy option though moving forward for us hot sauce addicts. You know the kind that makes your pores sweat instantly. The food was pretty good depending on the order. For instance, the crispy tilapia tacos were to die for; the chicken ones were to dry; and the beef was spot on. Keep this in mind for your order! The beer selection was great offering Mexican imports and some domestic beer taps. On that note, I went to order a Texas lone star brew and they were completely out of stock which was a bit of a let down as I had a Texas buddy talking about the state beer and I was pretty excited to give it a try. This is a great restaurant atmosphere and I love eating here for a night out with friends ,but it is not really a place for date night in my opinion. This is an easy 4/5 star review for me! Restaurant is very clean with pretty good service and great bathrooms. Thanks Blanco! You can order margaritas in a honey pot for an entire group to drink hard which had Winnie the Pooh vibes. Include a photo of the honey pot for reference. Nice touch!
