Doable in a day at about 15+ miles depending on if you also go to Garibaldi Lake. Heavily trafficked trail, so get in early for parking and enjoy less foot traffic during the week. If you are able to submit, the views are unbelievable. Wow. Gnarly.
*Campers may also be leaving midmorning if you're lucky.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A spectacular area in Vancouver's backyard. We left Garibaldi Lake campground at 4:15 am to try and hit the summit of Black Tusk for sunrise but just missed it. It is a climb of switchbacks from the lake to get too an awesome Alpine meadows completely blooming with wildflowers. We came across deer in the meadows just a few feet of the trail. Then once through the meadows is it an unrelenting ascent up some loose rock up to the base of the tusk. After rounding the base to the far side, accessed the chimney for as scramble up to the top (beware the loose rocks in the chimney as one baseball sized one hit one of our party in the neck and continued down to hit another in the back). Once on top you are hit by amazing panoramic views including Howe Sound, Whistler & Blackcomb, glacier fed Garibaldi Lake, Garibaldi Mountain and much of the coastal mountain range.
