The ferry is not terribly communicative, either in staff or signage. It would really helpful to have clearer expectation of where to bring the car for drive on, and when you are and are not in secured areas. We spent 90 minutes stuck in the cold behind a vehicle gate, and couldn't get access to use a heated space, because it was inside U.S. boarder control. We didn't know we were inside until we tried to leave and get coffee.

The best way to get to Victoria for us from Port Angeles is to use Black ball ferry line. For $37 walk on round trip and 1.5 hrs later and we are here. Just don’t forget to fill out the form and you should be all set.

Always a great way to get to Victoria. Ditch the car Victoria is really walkable and bus pass is 5.00 for a daily pass.

I am so so happy to have this ferry back. The staff and company is outstanding. MUCH MUCH better than the BC Ferries from a personal service point of view. I had a booking issue and called the office and they were so helpful and solved the problem quickly and professionally. Great Service

What a great deal to cross from Victoria to Port Angeles! I have taken the Coho from Victoria to Port Angeles in decades past, but only in a vehicle on my way somewhere south in the USA. We did the walk on and the price is very reasonable. We used the Clallam Transit Straight Shot bus to go to and from Bainbridge Island (and the Washington State Ferry to/from Seattle). Compared to any other transport from Victoria to Seattle, it is very inexpensive. Return for one person is about $71 US from Victoria to Seattle. The Coho is $21 per person one way. Straight Shot bus is $10 per person one way. Bainbridge to Seattle ferry is $9.25 return (you only pay on the trip from Seattle to Bainbridge.) The trip on the Coho was excellent - very good staff and the ticket sales agent at the station was very helpful and informative! You can get duty free on board, and they have specials from time to time. Limited food service right now, but hopefully they will be ramping things up in the spring for tourist season. At this time, there is no requirement to have a negative COVID test to cross - saves you quite a bit in cost!

Called earlier today to confirm that I could make a reservation and pay in full with debit and/or cash. Whoever I spoke with said that yes, I absolutely can come in to reserve with my debit card, and that they would be open until 7:30PM this evening. Upon arrival, I was met with a “no, my manager isn’t in so I can’t do that” response. After multiple conversations, the girl working the desk (6:30PM, Monday, May 23rd) refused to contact any supervisor or manager, during business hours, to accommodate this verbally “approved” request because that would be “inappropriate”. Maybe don’t stay open past your hours of operation, as this is confusing for potential guests.

Easy ferry experience; clear instructions on what is needed, easy boarding and comfortable ride both ways! It's not like there's a great deal of other options, but it's nice that Black Ball Ferry Line maintains good standards!
