Takes months to respond to letter, then months to kick someone out. Thousands of dollars wasted. Helps tenants and not landlord who are on hundreds of thousands in loans and are need of rent money.

These people you talk to on the phone are overpaid if they recieve min wage. Waste of time. Typical government agency. As if renters don't have enough over the top rights, let's give them even more! So stupid!

Nothing "fast and easy" about their online dispute resolution process. Information not too clear, and when you call for clarification you sometimes get different info from different officers. We almost missed a critical deadline due to confusing info given. Technical issues online meant that some important photos were not uploaded. Oh yeah, we also get to pay $100 for the luxury of trying to recover money we are owed, while the person owing the money gets to sit back and do nothing, and very likely will never have to pay. Disappointing to say the least.

The RTB serves mainly the interests of tenants, which is why many landlords are forced to rent out their place for short term like air bnb, so if you wanna complain why there are no sufficient long term places to rent, this is the reason. I have been a landlord for a decade and had to deal with plenty of unruly tenants who would not pay, move out, not clean up and still want their damage deposit returned. The police won’t help, you have to call a Bailiff and pay in the thousands to remove unruly tenant and then you loose even more money. So tenants need to stop whining, you are in the driver’s seat bellyachers! Thank the RTB for looking out for you, beyond shameful organization!

If I could give zero stars, I would. The arbitrator Ms P. Senay was beyond rude and yelling at me during a dispute resolution. How and why is this type of conduct allowed and possible? Is there a watchdog for the RTB?

The other day I questioned an information officer on two pieces of legislation that appear to be conflicting with each other. Expecting a satisfactory answer from the experts but all I got was "well that's just life'. Fantastic, thank you very much for your information. I wonder if I can use that same answer the next time I want to remove a tenant for breaching the tenancy agreement? Don't bother calling the RTB and waiting on hold to find out. The answer to that riddle is no. Information officers can only regurgitate from the tenancy act. You get different answers from different officers because most things written are left up to interpretation. Most of them don't understand the plight of a landlord (or a tenant, to be fair) - but let's be honest here - it's always the Landlord that has the most to lose in a dispute. The RTB providing decent advice is a myth. Calling themselves a neutral agency is an oxymoron. And what I realized is this: The RTB's work is suspect because the root issue here is the legislation itself. The RTB has to follow it. Therefore, in my opinion, the entire tenancy act needs to be reviewed/reworked. Honestly, one can't breach a cell phone contract without suffering consequences, but a tenant breaching their tenancy agreement? No problem, because, well, that's just life!

Such a horrible agency. I went in person and they told me they don’t help face to face because of Covid and I can only get help on the phone?! Does not help out or side with landlords when tenants damage and steal your stuff even when you have the evidence. Every phone call I’ve made they have given me different answers.

I had some of the worst customer service ever! The woman literally kept telling me " I am not sure where you are going with this" my question was my landlord was holding my mails for 4 months and they didnt give them back until it was too late. She literally was like okay i am not sure where you are going with this. Got on my nerve i had to hung up on her and call again to talk with another agent and they easily told me to go thru canada post. I am not sure why they hire people who aren't willing to help.
