Some BC history to learn. Cowichan Valley has a lot of history with logging. This place show cases conservation and the logging industry. Can they coexist.

This is such a fun place for toddlers! We didn't know that there is a playground as well. It will be extra fun to ride during Halloween and Christmas. I wish the fee was a bit cheaper so that locals can go there more often. (That's what a lot of our family friends are saying. )

What a great place to take the family. Learn about the BC logging and forestry industry. Ride the rails. On this trip they had arts, crafts and activities for children. Fun for the whole family.

This location has one of the few remaining Garbage Gobblers! It lives in their antique vehicles shed. This particular Garbage Gobbler has been refurbished (by Cowichan Collision) and is the nicest looking Garbage Gobbler we've seen yet. The staff here was incredibly informative and accommodating. This site houses a blacksmith shop, a trestle bridge, fully functioning trains, a ranger station and all sorts of neat heritage stuff related to the harvest of trees. Worth stopping here to take a look as there is something here for everyone!

An engaging and wide-ranging outdoor museum, giving you a clear view into the world of forestry history. It sparks the imagination and reminds you of our heritage on the Island - hard, remote work with wondrous machines and men. The Centre has an amazing collection of old equipment, locomotives, authentic buildings with the not-too-distant past of forestry. Also expansive grounds and a beautiful setting for kids to stretch their legs.

Such a fun time! The train ride was great and there's so much information given as you're driving through. The buildings are so unique and all the old artifacts are wonderful to see. You can't go wrong visiting here...from young to old you'll have a great time!!

Discovered this place when we were driving up to Nanaimo. The boys loved the train ride and seeing all the old logging equipment and trucks as their grandpa used to be a logger. Great little museum explaining the history.

Love this place! My toddler had a blast. They have games to play outside with the family, a beautiful playground that's well kept and looks pretty new. Wasn't overly expensive and I love that you don't have a time frame of how long you can stay. Perfect place to go spend the day, bring a picnic and let the kids run around.
