The BBB is becoming irrelevant and is not adding value to our business. We will not be renewing with them or working with them again. We had hoped to take advantage of certain aspects of their business for marketing purposes but they were virtually unavailable for over a year. With Google Reviews the BBB rating system is no longer required, it was not helpful for SEO purposes and we didn't get any clients from it. It's too bad but they need to modernize. Nice people, bad model.

The bbb is a scam. They have ZERO power to do anything. You as a business owner can actually donate to them, for 5 star reviews. I know this because several of my friends whom are business owners. All confirmed. The bbb is a scam, they are NOT amvic they are NOT the police for businesses. All they can do is give a bad review, which will be erased with donations.

The BBB allows trolls to post false reviews on your business page and will not take them down, even with proof. We've been trying to get a fake review down for over two years that was posted by an anonymous person. Usually when I call the BBB I don't get a response for 2 or 3 days which is ironically, not the way you'd expect a company who claims to be the Better Business Bureau to act. Edit: Hilariously they responded with an automated response to my problem. The review directly below mine has the exact same boiler plate response

Protects the customer from unethical business practices. BBB is a long established organization that is a reliable source of information on company practices and a history of customer issues. It is an independent non-biased source. Protects against all those fraudulent start-ups who steal cash for 'renovation' etc. or damage your property in the course of 'business'.

This is a major concern !!!!!! Can't trust BBB anymore they are allowing owners of company's to use fake names for there personal information section and they are giving acknowledgment of best of year certificates from Home Stares which you pay for. You also pay for good reviews, I've looked at were some of the reviews were from and it's funny, on a one owner calgary company it's amazing how he could work in calgary, Toronto and India all while being home every nite. He also uses a fake name for his business dealings. I thought you had to prove personal ID to get on with BBB but I guess not they just want your money. Such a shame a once respected company would go against there own beliefs.

Don't ever use Blue Cross for travel, I filled out all the forms, along with the original receipts, they then send me a form with no cover letter, I call and wait on hold for a long time the person who answered the line was rude and condescending, saying you need to fill out the form we sent you plus send proof, I said I sent you the proof, he said that isn't good enough you need to prove you had this done, I said how am I going to prove it when I sent you the original bill that I paid, he said not our problem that is protocol, and I need to send the full details of my credit card statement proving where I was, along with the charges to my credit card. He said they can't just take an actual physicians receipt as proof. This is a total scam, take the money for the travel insurance and make it as hard as possible to get reimbursed, why wasn't there something attached to the claim I submitted on line, he said not my problem. I will go out of my way to ensure I tell everyone to avoid Alberta Blue Cross for travel coverage

Tom Cutmore 2 reviews 3 months ago Bathroom renovation. In 2017 I renovated my main and ensuite bathrooms. The ensuite started leaking in less than 2 years. I procrastinated trying to decide what to do. The contractor (Paul Duguay) of Duguay Construction over charged for the work and kept the extra tile and tried to charge me for it. His plumber should have retired a decade ago. He made comments like, "That's not right." He hooked up the shower plumbing backwards. When you turn the handle it should go from cold to hot not hot to cold. The tile guy was amateurish at best bordering on incompetent. He never used a level, most likely used the wrong grout which is the cause for the leak. Wall and floor tiles should be level. When I run my hand from one tile to the next I feel a bump. The shower bench and shower curb should not be level. They should have a slight slope so water can drain. This didn't happen. Water just sits on these surfaces and I have to squeegee them to remove the water. All the home renovation shows talk about tiles being level. I'm kicking myself for not firing the contractor and finding someone else to finish. Mr. Duguay measured wrong when it came time to install the glass door on the shower. As a result he had to cut 2 holes (top and bottom) on the other side of the bathroom wall. This meant patching the dry wall, endless sanding and finally painting. I had dry wall dust every where. When I pointed out something was not level he replied, "It is level with his level, mine must be broken." When I received my invoice I deducted the cost of the extra tile he took and told him he was not getting another penny. Needless to say Duguay Construction and I parted on unfriendly terms. It pains me to have pay for two renovations. I decided to proceed and hired Bath Fitter to install the new ensuite shower. Albert the tech (15 years with Bath Fitter) was nothing less than amazing. The attention to detail was remarkable. A company owner even came out to check on the job - impressive. The work was done in a day and a half. I have a life time warranty on the shower. I don't have to worry about tiles cracking, leaking and re-grouting. Some time next year I will have Bath Fitter do my main bathroom. If you are wanting to do a bathroom renovation consider Bath Fitter and AVOID AT ALL COSTS DUGUAY CONSTRUCTION. Photo on left is the poor work done by Duguay Construction. Photo in the middle is the professional work done by Bath Fitter in my ensuite bathroom. Photo on right is my main bathroom. Early February I had Bath Fitter back to cover up the awful Duguay Construction Reno. i wish I had fired him and brought in someone else to finish the job. Live and learn. The Same tech Albert came back to Reno my main bathroom. Once again he did a great job. Duguay Construction - avoid him. Bath Fitter - hire them with confidence that you will have a great Reno.
