I can't express my gratitude enough for the amount of care Baycrest had for my grandmother who was in palliative care here. Wonderful staff, helpful and kind. They made the process easier for me and my family and they were very understanding.

Baycrest Rehab feels like a nursing home. Most of the staff are not experienced enough to deal with complex patient cases and are not up-to-date with nursing training. Terribly understaffed during the evening/night shift. My mother was quickly sent back to emergency and later moved to Toronto Rehabilitation Institute for proper care. If you really care about finding a good rehab facility for your loved one, don't choose this place.

I can't even rate this 1 star and would give it a minus 5 stars. I would avoid this place and feel guilty that we chose this for our mother. My 95 year old mother was appalled in the treatment given to her after under hip surgery. Nurses seem to be uncaring and don't even smile, The night staff is the worse. One nurse came to her in the morning and was like a drill searjant telling her she needs to get out of bed. When she mentioned she couldn't suddenly she became surgery sweet on her. Same nurse came to give her her medication and my mother didn't recognize the pills and she said they weren't hers. She said that she would come back with the proper medication and never did. Nurse was reported and was under investigation. My mother told her to stay away from her and not to come near her again. My mother had physiotherapy that day and mentioned it to the physiotherapist who reported it and the nurse was under investigation. She never received her medication since the nurse documented that she received it so they couldn't t give it again. My mother told that nurse never to come near her again. Since the incident my mother was finally treated with kindness and compassion that she deserved. Since then she has seen that nurse twice on that floor so she is still working there. The food is terrible especially breakfast and lunch which is packaged and not fresh items. Patients have trouble opening them and have to ask staff to assist them Evening meals are a hit or miss and mostly a miss. I was there with my mother every day for three weeks and heard nothing but complaints from other patients. One told me a story of his roommate who need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. He rang the buzzer and finally a nurse came and after an hour took him the bathroom but it was too late and he had urinated in his bed. When the nurse took him back to bed he was told it was o.k. and to go back to bed where he had to lay in urinated sheets. Another patient checked out early and said that she would continue her exercises at home and didn't want to be there anymore.

My Mom spent 1 month here for rehab. Don't have enough space to write everything that was wrong, but will point out a few things that stood out. First, the food served in the dining room is practically inedible. My Mom filled something out stating certain foods she cannot eat, but was still served them. The food is bland, cheap and poorly made. Secondly, the staff are very mixed as far as professionalism and empathy go. For instance, there is a rehabilitation worker named Melissa who is perfect for her job. She is kind, friendly and goes the extra mile to make her patients feel good. Then there is Anna. Not sure why she is doing this job, maybe she can't do anything else. She is rude, lacks patience and empathy, and generally makes you feel as though you're bothering her. She needs to be trained as to how to work with people in general. Other staff and patients don't seem to like her either, but I don't think she even realizes how she rubs people the wrong way. Lastly, the staff at the nursing station don't assist you much at all. If you have heartburn or upset stomach (again, the food), expect to buy your own medicine for it. They don't provide things like that. All in all, if you have the choice to go elsewhere, do it. You won't be happy at Baycrest.

Baycrest Dental Clinic: Top notch. Bring your senior here or come here yourself. Dr. Ghadi, Juliet, Irina--all so very kind and caring. Tooth extraction on my beloved senior went well. No pain, no discomfort. Thanks so so much, ladies!

I highly recommend the dental clinic practice at Baycrest Hospital. They treated my mom a senior very well. I enthusiastically recommend this the dental clinic for just about anyone especially if you are taking care of people in old age.

Easy to reach with public transport. The hospital is quite big with multiple buildings. Each building encapsulating its own properties. I have been working here as a research student at Rotman Research Institute. I found all the people to be very helpful. Walking in the hostel and seeing happy faces of old people is what makes the aura awesome.

Untrained in modern medicine. I would never take a loved one here after our experience. They are proficient at: Misdiagnosis, aggravating the situation for caregivers, mercilessly violating all kinds of your rights, especially privacy.
