About Bangkok Kitchen Thai

Rewinding back to over 30 years ago, Sawat Panyo, the cook, had learned how to cook Thai food from her mother, Chareon. Sawat spent her entire teenage life to accumulate experiences in cooking different Thai dishes then opened her own restaurant soon after in her hometown. Popular dishes include Pad Thai, Green Curry, Matsaman Curry, and Stir-fried Hot Basil along with Thai desserts like Mango Sticky Rice and homemade Coconut Milk Ice Cream, which received overwhelming attention and the food was sold out within a short period of time almost everyday.

About ten years later, Sawat moved to Edmonton with her family, but the passion for cooking has never been away from her. She started working in different restaurants over the years to gain more experiences and learn new cooking techniques. When the right time and opportunity have come together, Sawat decided to open a Thai restaurant here in Edmonton with the intention to inherit Thai food; therefore, Bangkok Kitchen was founded.

Sawat hopes that customers will be impressed with the food taste because she ensures that every dish is authentic and made with care for the best quality and taste by using exotic ingredients, herbs, and seasonings from South East Asian countries.

Always open to new flavors and will attempt a "dine-in" next time instead of ordering. About 1.5 hours to get the delivery which is pretty intense given the quality received. That's not to say it was bad, just a lot of the same flavor. Ordered the cashew chicken and aside from cashews its in the same sauce as the satay beef. No depth there which was unfortunate as i love cashew chicken. (Sukothai... I miss you). Cashew chicken stated it was in an oyster sauce and that was not the case at all. Spring rolls were very dark and overdone. The 4 stay chicken skewers were probably the worst of it all, may have been due to delivery but they were very chewy, stringy and dried out. Everything we had ordered turned out to be sweet. No saltiness, sour or spice which we had expected. In the future we will try an in house sit down and see the difference, order different items too. I won't go as far to say it was horrible cause it really wasn't, but in my opinion isn't restaurant quality and overall the experience via skip was meh.

We were disappointed with the Thai Hot Ginger dish. The flavor was weak for our liking. Pad Thai tasted fine, a lot of noodle but could use a bit more of chicken and bean sprouts.

I first discovered Bangkok Kitchen 4 years ago when I was working in the area. I was told their Green Curry is the best. And it is! I ordered every two weeks for lunch. Later that year I changed work locations and thanks to my terrible memory, I forgot the name... And I'm terrible at directions so I totally lost track of this restaurant. I am again working nearby-ish. A coworker hunted Google maps until we found the place. And I'm so glad! The green curry is still one of the very best I've ever had. This family owned restaurant is true to it's routes. I've been to Thailand and their traditional curries are just as good, if not better! I will say, I've only strayed from the curries once, and the dish was good but my taste buds don't water like they do when I am driving to get a curry!! I've also had the Panang Curry, yellow curry, and I absolutely love their Coconut rice!

Order was for 6:40 but took an additional 25 min watching them bag one dish at a time. Got it home and the food was crisp to the point of being inedible

Really good flavors. Hasn't suffered at all under new management. Great value for money. Two curries, rice, and one appetizer could feed 3 people. We took some of each curry home I had been curry beef. Decent amount of both veggies and beef. My partner asked for red curry tofu (not on the menu) and they made us fresh for her. It was pretty slow, and they said they were happy to accommodate the request, but might not always be able to if it's busy (totally fair imo). Veggie spring rolls were a nice app.

Just moved and had to find a place to eat. I went here and was very impressed. Loved it so much I’ve been there a few times. They have a few vegan and vegetarian options. I got the Yellow Curry with tofu and green onion cakes. My friend was impressed as well with the pa-nang curry. They also tried the green curry and hot Thai basil dish with beef and enjoyed it. Service is friendly, restaurant is unique and comfy. Prices are fair, especially for how much I enjoyed the food.

Everything we ordered was fantastic!! The outside of the building looked sad but inside was very welcoming, warm and clean. Food is on average $1 cheaper than other Thai restaurants for the same size. Definitely will come back with more friends!
