About Bailey's Restaurant
Changes over the Years
Built in 1900 by banker W.F. Alloway, this building has been home to a parade of business tenants including the Manitoba Hospital Commission, Manitoba Health Services and even Great West Life until it was finally converted into a restaurant in 1971. Known then as Oliver’s Restaurant and the Old Bailey’s Lounge, some say its hospitable architecture attracted the attention of the Manitoba’s early Progressive Conservative Party and served as its club. Here, members could relax, enjoy fellowship and contemplate the Party’s future.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Staff top notch. Food is delicious. Atmosphere is classic yet rustic. Amazing architecture, very cool rooms. Nice ambience! An overall great place to get a steak and a nice glass of wine. Have many delicious items on their menu. I haven't had one sub-par meal there yet.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely wonderful in every way. We celebrated a milestone anniversary here and the food and the service were beyond compare!
The ambiance is beautiful. The high back chairs were delightfully comfortable. We enjoyed “The Feast” a dinner for two that consisted of fillet mignon (cooked to your specifications perfectly), two lobster tails, shrimp, scallops and chicken souvlaki. We started out with a lovely garden salad with delicious creamy cucumber dressing and rolls that were mouthwatering. We had a choice of rice or potato but we chose potato and they were decent. We also picked the seasonal vegetables. Paired with a lovely bottle of wine… dinner was perfection! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone and I can’t wait to come back!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I haven’t been here for a while, I’m still a fan of the classic pub ambiance. Our server was fairly new and was upfront about it regardless he gave us a good service. The food was typical pub food in size portion and price point.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Enjoyed a quick pregame meal before the Jets game, so we ate in the lounge instead of the fancy dining room. I had the Bacon cheese burger and my wife had the Clubhouse sandwich both with fries. The burger was big, tasty and filling, the Clubhouse was also very good. Though I love shoestring fries, mine were too salty. Simply a matter of someone over salting. Service was fine.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely atmosphere and a must see restaurant! Beautiful decor and architecture! Our waiter Brad (I think that’s what his name was) was amazing and gave us a tour of the building and took photos for us. He offered me a stuffed pepper dish off what seemed to be a catering menu as I am vegetarian and there were limited vegetarian options. The food was great! Good potatoes and house salad too! My one recommendation would be to have more vegan/vegetarian options. This place would be amazing for engagement parties, anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, small weddings, bachelor parties etc as well.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What can I say it's just a classy old place with a great sense of history, two very private dining rooms for parties plus old world charm. Some of the best meals I've had in my life have been served up here. The service was excellent and the food cooked to perfection. For those who partake there's an excellent bar with over 30 different varieties of Scotch whiskey.
