BE AWARE like all raw meat products the raw meaty bones, balancer, and full meals must be refrigerated after thawing. It is best to thaw the product while still sealed by submerging it in cold water or allowing it to thaw in the refrigerator. You can allow the package to soften enough to break it into smaller pieces and then freeze the remainder. Refrigerate the unused portion; meat will keep fresh in the refrigerator for approximately 3-4 days. It can stay frozen for up to 6 months. Like with human food when in doubt throw it out.

β β β β β Came to visit their retail store front after seeing their Facebook page. The staff explained about their products and gave valuable suggestions as I have never fed my cats raw. She also help us look up portions to feed based on weight of my cats. I bought some chicken necks today for my cats and will see how it goes. Will probably order more in the future after our puppy arrives. They also deliver to Calgary and surrounding areas.

Becky and Kristi are responsible, knowledgeable and a delight to deal with. They have helped me with nutrition and supplement counseling to keep my dogs in top shape. I have personally toured their facility and it is immaculately clean and organized. Additionally, I have referred numerous of my own dog clients to use Back to Basics, and EVERY single one has loved the differences in their dogs switching to this company and had exceptionally pleasant dealings with the staff.

β β β β β Fantastic company, and the food quality is even better! I can't believe I haven't reviewed this before. I have been using Back to Basics for over 3 years. I have 2 French Bulldogs and they were having massive allergy issues, leaky eyes and skin issues (one of them even had seasonal alopecia). I tried about a dozen high end kibbles and they all failed. I did some heavy research and decided to switch to raw. The meatballs love the food, and look extremely healthy. Their coats are smooth and shiny, and their teeth are bright white. I should also mention that they also leaned right out, it's quite amazing. Fabulous company! Don't buy from the pets store it's way overpriced, and I love that I'm supporting local!!

β β β β β Back to Basics Raw Pet Food is amazing! Both my pooches love the raw dog food. The pricing is amazing and delivery of bulk orders straight to the house makes it very convenient. There reward program for returning customers is also a nice touch.
My first visit to the location the store was under an upgrade/construction. The friendly staff came outside and shared tons of information about raw dog food and there process. I was afraid that I was going to have to leave without raw dog food as I did not order before hand. The staff member that day went into the store and supplied me with everything I needed to get started. I left a very happy costumer and would highly recommend this to anyone looking to try raw dog food.

β β β β β Excellent quality and customer service. When thawed it doesn't release tons of water and the bones are not overly fatty, both of which I have encountered elsewhere. It's clear the owners have put lots of thought into their formulas and taken the time to source their ingredients responsibly. In particular I love the flexibility the bones + balancer option gives - I don't have to think much to balance the food, it's very convenient. I've also found it to be the best place for rare proteins in a balanced meal. While you pay a bit for the quality, it is still not overly expensive, especially compared to some large commercial producers. Additionally, the owners willing hand out tons of information and experience. Overall, we are very satisfied customers!
