Ten years ago Jalal did a wonderful front yard makeover for our adjacent neighbours . The following spring he redid their backyard landscaping. We admired the quality of his workmanship and professionalism of his crew at that time and were pleased to finally contract him for a large makeover project of our own this spring. Jalal met with us on several occasions to work out the design details for a new front entrance and a widened driveway and then completed the project masterfully. He is a skilled stone mason, overseeing all the work and cutting and fitting the massive stone blocks with precision. When the stonework was complete Jalal agreed that a short addition to the retaining wall would be a better fit for our landscaping and he willingly retrieved the necessary materials to make the adjustments himself, after sending home his crew on a Friday afternoon. Our new garage floor, inviting front entrance and widened driveway have created great curb appeal for our home and it is evident that pride of workmanship went into every step of this project. We have happily referred Authentic Landscaping to several friends without reservation and the number of projects in our neighbourhood, bearing their signage, is a testament to the quality and integrity of this company. The positive online reviews and my gut instinct played a big part in my decision to go with Authentic Landscaping and Construction and they did not disappoint. From my initial request for a quote to the final completion of work, Jalal was responsive, prompt, respectful and professional. His honesty, integrity and respect are what make him and his team stand out above the rest. I appreciated how he did not try to “up-sell” his services and he even gave me tips on how I could save some money by doing some things myself. His approach is to under promise and over deliver. Authentic Landscaping and Construction did a great job on our landscape. Jalal is very personable, pleasant and very easy to deal with. He engaged us in every step of the project and his many years of experience were so helpful. His integrity and honesty made us feel comfortable while the work was ongoing. I feel qualified to pass judgement on the work done by Authentic.  I had four quotes for interlock on the driveway, and did not choose to go with Authentic.  My mistake.  I was impressed with the owner of the company that I chose… but the owner only  showed up on site to collect cheques.  The guy that I thought would be doing the work sent in the B- team.  They were kids that cared more about finishing the job quickly than the quality of the job.  As a result, I felt forced to make a website documenting all of the sloppy shortcomings of the job that I was left with. A few years later, we wanted a back yard patio, This time I chose to go with Authentic.  This was because I understood that Jalal would continually be on site.  This implied to me that Jalal would ensure that the work would be up to his standards.  (It is like choosing a restaurant… it is not the name of the restaurant, but rather the head chef that is primarily responsible for your experience.) Significantly, on one occasion I was watching Jalal from inside the house, when he didn’t know I was watching him.  He was fitting a paving stone into place.  It almost fit.  He could have made the adjacent paving stones go cock-eyed to make it fit.  It would save time.   But he chose to shave some more rock off of the paving stone.  It still didn’t fit.  So he shaved still more rock off of the stone.   I suggest that that is the attention to detail that one can anticipate from Jalal.  I was pleased to be continually consulted on work in progress, and was pleased with the extra aspects of the job that Jalal cheerfully performed. One year after the job was completed, Jalal dropped by to inquire if there were any problems. There was a minor issue that I considered too trivial to mention. Jalal noticed it... and promptly fixed it (as part of our contract arrangement).

The Backyard we Dreamed of: In the summer of 2019, we realized that by the following summer we would be able to go ahead with redoing our backyard. With it being such a big job, we started looking at contractors and were delighted to meet Jalal. He was exceedingly patient and kind. He came by for many visits to discuss our thoughts and design ideas (even though the project was still a year away). He offered numerous references including some where he had done work years prior and all of the sites we saw were in excellent shape and beautifully done. We put our deposit in and eagerly awaited the Spring thaw when we could touch base to confirm start date. Jalal was, again, very kind and ready to go very close to the start date we had hoped for. He even made time to tack on redoing our driveway. The project was beyond what we expected. Jalal was on the job site and worked arduously everyday. He and Ibrahim are efficient, reliable, meticulous, and have a phenomenal attention for detail. They were very careful with our home and cleaned up everyday leaving the worksite tidy and organized. The finished result was simply stunning. Everything ended up as discussed or better. I would highly recommend Jalal for your outdoor landscaping project. Trustworthy and talented!

My husband and I want to thank Jalal and his team for the excellent work done on our backyard. We needed a complete makeover and the outcome was above and beyond our expectations.
