★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 1. We are currently in a Pandemic. With Montreal being the hotspot for transmission rates yet the owner never has his mask on properly. It's always underneath his nose and barely covering his mouth. This defeats the entire point of wearing a face covering to protect yourself and others from a deady virus that has shut down the economy.
2. The re-furbished PC I bought from this location for just over $600 (promised in store that his machines are top notch and simply re-built from used parts) is actually dating back to 2007. It came with a $30 graphics card that I now have to upgrade for 200+ and I'll be needing to upgrade the motherboard and most other parts myself which will total me well double what I payed. If I wanted to pay full price for a PC I would have not went with a small business I was trying to support and went with a big box store that has 2 year warranties.
This is my honest feeback from my now several experiences at this shop.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Scott is a pleasant fellow who knows his stuff and has a sense of humour. His hourly rate is very reasonable and he tells you up-front the problems that might arise in doing what you want done. I spent around $800, was pleased with the results, and will go to Scott again when the need arises.
A few months after I wrote the review above, I asked Scott to build a new PC for me. I have been using the new machine for several months and am extremely pleased with it. Scott built it to my specs, installed the most up-to-date drivers, and included documentation and disks for all of the components in the delvery. And the price ... much lower than an equivalent machine from a box-store!
Added July 2016: one of my hard drives failed. Scott replaced it with a new 1 Tb drive and had my PC up and running within two hours - and all for less then $100. Bravo, Scott!
Added August 2017: my PC wouldn't boot and I couldn't even get into the BIOS. Scott had it up and running in 10 minutes! And, as usual, his charge was extremely reasonable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had an issue with my computer (CPU cooler fan not working) turns out it was my power supply...BUT I had no idea until I came to see Scott!
At first, I went just to see what the establishment was like. Super nice guy, he gave me tips on how to install the cooler, and all these ideas that might be the problem free of charge taking the time out from his day to help a random stranger (me). I went home, tried the ideas out, but it didn't work. I then brought my computer in and within the day, he called me back, said it was my power supply. I came and collected my computer, he installed the CPU cooler, and I will order my power supply today. Honestly, super nice guy, takes the time to explain things to you, is very down to earth and easy going. I will come back and recommend him to my friends. Thanks again Scott.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went there with broken cpu cooling fan bracket on my older computer.
Fixed it quickly with replacement part, inquired about my 2nd tower cooling fan which was broken, was told not necessary to replace, can run without instead of selling new part, answered all my questions and service at low price. Heard him speak to other clients, made sure to advise options on build/repairs and also told them if certain requested options were unnecessary based on their needs and not worth spending extra money instead of making extra money on those extra options. Definately will be my go to place for repairs/fixes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I brought my PC into MicroScott because something was blown in my computer. He fixed my computer the same day by 3:00 pm. He also cleaned out my computer completely, which was just awesome service.
My computer needed a new power supply. I cannot remember the exact price, but it was really honest and low. I would definitely go here to get your PC fixed and I would consider buying a used computer if ever I need to. Which I hope is not for a long time, because my PC is also awesome.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had some problems with my computer so I brought the machine into Microscott for an opinion or two and a replacement part. The workshop is conveniently located on Sherbrooke in NDG and impossible to miss, so it was an easy trip for me. The owner, Scott, was friendly, clever and did a very concrete thing to earn my trust right out of the gate by suggesting cheaper, better options than what I had come in with. That made my day. As a side note, when I came back later in the day to pick up my computer I heard him do the same thing for another patron.
Scott's integrity is a virtue.
I ended up spending a fraction of what I thought I would including the parts and labour. As a first time customer, and based on personal experience elsewhere, I was not expecting all the fixes to be complete same day. I don't know if that's a regular thing or if I was lucky enough. I'm happy to take the win and credit Scott.
Also, at my special request, he found a way to disable all the glowing internal lights that plague modern computing. As long as Scott walks the Earth, I can say with confidence the heavens are missing an angel of mercy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I cannot recommend this place enough for computer repairs and issues. Scott is extremely pleasant, helpful, prompt and honest. He managed to track down and hard to find part for my PC and quickly repaired it for a very reasonable price. He kept me apprised of the whole process and showed me the parts he changed. Atelier Microscott is awesome.
