About ATCO Energy

In 2016, ATCOenergy recognized the need for a different kind of energy company in Alberta’s deregulated energy market. Providing positive energy to the people of Alberta means giving customers the freedom to choose a plan that works for them, their home or business, and the life they live.  

ATCOenergy soon grew to be the third largest competitive energy retailer in the province, offering flexible electricity and natural gas plans, flexible payment options and local support to residential and business customers.

One month descent prices and gradually increasing monthly to where they say 450 on one bill to cover prior months....now 272 per month....I read their ad and they recommended that me and my neighbour's dont use to much energy....

Am seriously unimpressed with the "Fees" and Riders and the amount charged for delivery. In my humble opinion, these are acts of plunder, and if the government represented the people, those responsible would face jail time!

I have been with ATCO for my gas and power for the last five years and have been very happy with their customer service and prices. I think there are some smaller providers that are a bit cheaper, but they don't always provide the same flexibility as ATCO to cancel or change your plan whenever you want. We have never had any issues with things being burried in the fine print, surprise charges or being misled by them. Very easy and upfront to deal with! The company has also thrown in a few perks over the years, like free or discounted tickets to events at Spruce Meadows. It is also an Alberta company, so they employ local people and support local non-profits - which is something that we feel good about! If the prices fit what you are looking for, I highly recommend them.

Second worst energy provider in Alberta for gouging rates, poor inquiry time response, poor (scripted) excuses for rate increases, poor website account self management. #1 in most inept website for managing your account (in part because you can only manage 1 account per email address with them, so if you have multiple addresses, business or personal they require you to create individual emails for each account-stupid) In Their defense every energy provider in Alberta & Canada are the biggest rate criminals in the Energy Provider World, With permission, scratch that, with full cooperation/collusion of our governments. I/We Invite you to Prove or convince Alberta users otherwise given CEO, Directors & Corporate Payroll & Record Internal Payouts & Profits. P.S. The Working Staff on the front lines are quite amazing, most of the time.

Excellent experience. I moved my services but accidentally pressed the wrong month and was left with no power. Called 2 people and got a beyond professional response. Victor and Thomias. Im sorry if I got that last name wrong I had bad service. Thank you to and I hope atco treats you well you where both a breath of fresh air. Thank you!!!

An account with open fraudulently with my name, I didn’t notice it till they were sent to collections and my credit score dropped by 100. Worried I went to take a look at my consumer disclosure through Trasnunion, I see Atco has sent me to collections strange I haven’t lived in Edmonton for over 7 years or Alberta for 5 I’m a BC resident. I called Atco and inquired, I am a victim of identity fraud. I put in a disrupt with Transunion and Equifax, file a police report. I call Atco back to ask more questions about said account in my name. They don’t require ID they don’t require SIN just a easy online forum to apply for an account. The Atco rep explained they ask personal questions to authorize a credit check but would not explain to me what. It’s a fraudulent account so clearly all I have is my name the phone number that has showing up on my consumer disclosure report from collections, this is not enough to verify an account with Atco. I offered to send copies of my ID, mail over the last few years stating my BC address to prove I am who I am saying I am they explained unless they can verify the account they can’t help. I asked about why there were two hits on my credit days apart clearly something was wrong the first time because it’s fraud! They wouldn’t help me. Atco needs to be held accountable they just let people open accounts with no proof it’s the actual person. This is effecting my credit (we live in a credit society) this is identity fraud and it started with them. I have an open case with the police, TransUnion and Equifax, Atco is dropping the bomb on this. I will call back everyday till this is resolved.

A very shady and poor customer service company. I was told by customer service that if I shut my power off at the cabin for the winter months there would be no monthly charges till I turned power back on in the spring and then there would be a one time re connection fee of a 150 dollars. To make a long story short the monthly bills of 50 plus dollars per month for no power usage kept coming even though I paid the 150 dollar disconnect fee. I have talked to customer service at least 5 times on this issue and over an hour on the phone each time. Each time they say the issue is solved and I will be credited back on my next bill only to find out a month later on my next bill that I was not credited back. I’m very frustrated with all the lies and poor customer service from Atco Energy. Hopefully the last phone call will have things resolved but I’m not counting on it.

Love ATCO! I got a good rate for 3 years guaranteed and even got their discount for Next winter. I used to be with Enmax but there hold times are hours long and then when you get someone they didn’t even help me. I called ATCO and it was fast and easy and my price is better too. I’d suggest them if you are looking. Still have to pay delivery fees but at least they are professional and super helpful.
