I came to toronto for a family wedding. I brought my dress to the cleaners before the wedding. This turned into one big fiasco. When I came to pick it up I noticed 5 beads missing from the middle of the dress It was in a very noticeable place. The owner told me that if it fell off at the cleaners it would've been found in one of the machines. I dont know what that means. What I do know is that when I dropped off the dress it had all the beads. The owner told me I didnt have to pay for the bill. But here I had a dress that I couldn't wear in that condition. But I asked him what do i do now, he kept saying I dont know, I dont know. After 15 minutes of this he started accusing me of lying, that I brought this dress in to the cleaners in that condition. I took the dress and I brought it to a tailor who found a way to make the dress wearable. I brought the bill to the cleaners and he wrote me a check very unwillingly. Didnt trust me. He went to the tailor to confirm. (The dress has a black bottom and a off-white top) When I took the dress the color of the off-white seemed different. But I was very focused on the beads to fix that problem. When I brought the dress home, I kept looking at the color. Something seemed off. I tried on the dress. And I realized that the off-white was now a greyed out color. Not the bright off-white it was before. I was devastated. Theres no way I can wear this to the wedding. This dress was purchased for the occasion. I paid $190 for dress. I went back to the cleaners and asked for reimbursement since they made my dress unwearable. The owner told me to sue him in small claims court. I would consider it but I dont live locally. I had to scrounge around at the last minute for a new dress. This whole situation was extremely frustrating. I had to argue for every little thing. To me it's simple. When you are a business servicing other people and you make a mistake you have to pay for it.
