★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have spent more than 20 years working on the front lines of conflict zones in Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Asia. I have personally conducted human rights investigations into massacres and other violations of human rights. I have interacted on numerous occasions with Amnesty besides contributing financially. Though the organization does do some good work, much of what they do is media driven. "popular" crimes against humanity are given a lot of attention while others that are much more serious are given little to no attention. They are also often thin to absent on the ground in some of the most important areas. Especially cringe-worthy is when they ignore the recycling of war criminals (like the Tutsi dominated Rwandan Patriotic Front) for use as peacekeepers and UN officials. Overall, they often pay little attention to the structural causes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’ve given to this organization on a monthly basis for at least a year but my attempts to have my credit card removed from their data base has been a nightmare. I called since November 21st and was assured that it was done and even received an email confirmation that they would no longer charge my card only to be changed again on December 1st (without my authorization) and I’ve since called them at least 20 times and each time, my call goes to voicemail. This has been a very unpleasant and unprofessional experience and I’m in two minds about giving to these types of charities if this is how they treat loyal donors.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Similar to others I've had a horrible experience trying to change my monthly donation. Originally I just wanted to end my current subscription and start over as a company but their incompetence and unresponsiveness has made a simple situation a nightmare. They have made me regret giving to them in the first place and I'll be more cautious with other charities in the future.
