Allure Hair Design & Medi-Spa

I went in with a gift certificate, and thank goodness I did. It was quite literally the WORST $160 leg / bikini wax I have had anywhere. Which is incredibly disappointing considering Allure has been a long established business in Manotick that is supposed to be "high end". I was kindly called and asked to come early for my appointment, which was not a problem for me at all. So I did. Then when I arrived, for my 1st time in the spa I was greeted with the expectation that I knew everything and where to go. "Oh just head up on upstairs to the wax room". Of course the look of confusion on my face indicated to the reception that I had no clue where that was. When she then proceeded to give me further directions, I made my way upstairs and was left to wait another 20 mins. ( Which as mentioned above, I was asked to come earlier... which clearly didn't matter) Finally, someone came to take me into the room and asked me to prepare for my session. When she returned back into the room she was very confused because she was under the impression I was there for a laser treatment. I was not. After that mix up was cleared up and I was shuffled into the correct room, my technician was very friendly, but that was about it. The wax was a disaster. She hurt me in several spots, leaving large blood bruising spots because the wax and strips where put on poorly. I have been waxed for many years and I can honestly say, I have never had a wax hurt this badly, even when I have done it on my own. It was a Bikini and full leg wax, and the technician didn't even graze my bikini area. I was COVERED in wax, and not even an acceptable amount that usually occurs. I mean COVERED, to the point I had trouble getting my pants back on. The worst of it was, I still had to go home and wax because close to 30% of my leg was missed and my Bikini not even done. I then proceeded to go back downstairs to pay, and clearly they were closing and just wanted me out ASAP. I sadly, tipped more than I should have for the painful, bruised and horrible work ( out of my own customer service guilt). And can honestly say $160 wax, for what was provided was NOT even close to worth that cost. Thank goodness I had a gift card, because that would have been and even harder pill to swallow. Sorry Allure, you did not meet my expectations even a little bit. I cannot in good conscience give you anything more than 1 star. Especially considering I was solicited to provide a review by you (Allure) about my experience.

This was my first time at Allure and it was an incredible experience ? I had recently moved so was nervous about changing stylists. I am so happy that I decided to give Allure's clean, professional, modern space a try. Milena spent time assessing my hair, options and preferences before she began. The end result couldn't be better. The fresh swishy, lighter style made me and my hair smile. Another bonus is the convenient online system for easy booking. I can't wait to return for foils and to try out the spa! Thank you for the hair love ?

Love my stylist ! Classy salon , beautiful building inside and out ! Superb, friendly staff. Clean and have all Covid safe requirements in place ! If your looking for great styles , cut and most of all colour - this is the salon for you !!!! Darcie Ottawa

My hair was severely damaged with major breakage from 3 years of bleach (I’m a natural dark brunette). I decided to try Allure after hearing good things and I wasn’t disappointed! I’ve seen Micheline twice now, and she’s completely rejuvenated my hair. She suggested a semi-permanent colour matching my roots (I wanted to go back to my natural colour) and a good cut. My hair looks and feels so healthy now and I was able to go 2 months between colours despite it being semi-permanent and having bleach underneath. I would definitely recommend Allure and Micheline! Also, the salon is super cute and all staff seem very nice.

Amanda was fantastic. Best haircut/colour I've had in years. I told her my thoughts and she got the exact results I was looking for. I mentioned I was not the type to get my hair coloured religiously and she provided realistic (and cost effective) options to keep my colour up. Thank you!

First appt, and I was asking for a significant change in my hair style. My original stylist wasn't comfortable so she worked it out with a more experienced stylist to look after me right then, and the senior stylist taught her the style I was looking for while she expertly did my hair! So accommodating to do that for me, and I always support women lifting women up by mentoring. Fantastic salon and I can say honestly they will get all my business and recommendations from now on.

The staff was SO lovely and my daughter’s hair looks beautiful! This was our first time at Allure and we’re super happy to have found such a great place. Love the online booking system - so convenient for finding a time for services!

I had a wonderful first experience with Sarah at Allure. I recently moved to the area and have not had my hair cut since before the pandemic. Sarah was friendly and knowledgable and made me feel very comfortable. I am loving my new hair cut. Will definitely be back! Highly recommend :)
