Helped get mr through a serious illness. Showed me a level of understanding and compassion when I was so physically ill, I was disabled by extreme pain and bed ridden. After years of emergency ICU pain management, extensive testing without identifying the cause, increases levels of agonizingly painful episodes, which were coming more frequently as time passed. My mental health was desperate! I was convinced my life was passing. I contemplated everyway to put an end to the chronic pain, disstress, anxiety and fear of another, looming, reoccurring episode. I was at the end after years without any hope. AISH supported me! Even though I knew it was their job, I felt as though I was recieving a kindness everytime I had an interaction with any of the staff I came across not only from AISH, but from the staff from the Northgate offices of Alberta Income Support, that could see while accessing my file, that my situation was legitimate. With professional integrity, the client workers and their supervisors took my hand leading me along along the path to AISH. It was a humbling experience getting through the door the first time. The circumstances, though unfortunate, allowed me the honor to experience the best from Alberta's Civil Services. Thank You D. This organization promised assured income after my accident. I fought against it at first but needed to heal. I was constantly cut off, lived under a tree for years and had to reopen my file ( with my original paperwork, like really??) Leaves a foul taste in my mouth, but they do take advantage of the people they are supposed to help. Only a few good workers and they are disappearing fast. Truly a sad state of affairs

An absolutely crucial social service that provides (very) modest support to those that are unable to work or support themselves due to severe and permanent medical, cognitive and psychiatric disabilities. Their new applications are WAY more friendly to the cognitively and physically impaired but their application processing wait times are still VERY long. Its service has definitely improved during the tenure of the NDP government. I just hope that the new conservative government doesn't pull another Ralph Klein and gut this crucial service...

According to them my son is better off living with his homeless mom and abusive boyfriend then with his father and sister on Christmas. Congratulations you ruined a 6-year-old's Christmas. Maybe actually try and contact the father when the mother is forcibly removed by the police and put in a shelter.
