They take really good care of my father who was unable to live in independent living anymore due to his condition. The staff here are nice and kind, and treat him well. Because it's my dad whom I love to to pieces, and I'm always looking for the absolute best for him. I do find at times that some of the staff brush them off when they're trying to communicate, but I get the fact that there's X number of residents, and they have to get around to each and everyone for all the scheduled times. For instance, evening snack before bed came around and my dad was trying to chat up the nurse about his pills and when he'd be helped to bed. The lady just said "we'll be back around in a bit to help you getting in bed", and then walked away to proceed to the next room. This is most likely just that natural condition people have where they expect that a daycare will treat your kid the same as you do. That's never going to be the case and we just have to accept that.

My mom was a resident for approximately 4 years. At the beginning mom seemed happy, and I was very pleased with the care she was given. At the end of her stay, and one week before she passed, we were told to move mom to a long-term care facility, Father Lacombe. We were given three days. After four days in the new location, mom suffered a massive stroke and passed one week to the day that we moved her. In three weeks she would have been 98 years old. No one at Walden said good bye. No one questioned how she was during those extremely stressful days for her when we were packing up her belongs. No one, except some residents who were coming and going in the lobby, talked to her as we waited for the bus to transport her to her new location. No cards of condolences were sent after her passing. Nothing! I believe mom needed to be moved to long-term, but why not moved to one in the same facility? We weren't given any answers or whys except that mom was violent--mom couldn't talk very well; therefore, couldn't communicate and was completely bedridden. We were basically just told what to do. Very cold treatment.

It is only now that I feel I can post a review. Three years ago Mar 1, we moved our Mom to Walden Care. She died 22 days later. We were told she had a fall, then the next day she was found unresponsive. We were told she had a bad headache during the night and given Tylenol. The Docs at South Health campus determined she had bleeding in her brain and she passed after 1 day in the hospital. In terms of a review, I would just like to say that we would have appreciated a follow up or investigation of the incident. In my Mom's room we could see two very large damage holes on the outside of her bathroom door at knee height and knee size. No explanation given! Our grief and shock at the time interferred with our ability to question circumstances. No staff or administration offered any comments after she passed. We needed to clear her room before the end of the month which is understandable, however no one approached us with comments or condolences while we carried out our duties. It is my suggestion that more compassion be exhibited to the family of a resident who has died. I know everyone is worried about litigation these days, but keeping silent is just wrong.

My friend was at this site in a locked down unit. Her care was poor to say the least. Left on her own to wander around the unit with nothing to stimulate her in the way of activities. Every time I went up to see her there would be a large group of people sitting in wheelchairs with a TV on but no interactions with the staff and no one to talk to which was quite depressing. The food was sub-par even after taking pictures and sitting down with the staff to try and change this. I am of the opinion that making money seemed to be this companies only interest.

Avoid like the plague. Newer building but horrible arrogant backoffice staff & average health staff. Many died in this facility from covid due to ignorance and staff based transmission. If you love your parent find somewhere else.

My mother has made her home at Agecare Walden Heights for more than 5 years. She has enjoyed every aspect of the safe, clean and modern facility. She especially enjoys having her hair done by Dee at her "Beehive". The recreation team does a good job of keeping residents entertained and engaged, even in these difficult "Covid" times. Prior to Covid there was regular entertainment with things like Elvis impersonators, line dancers to name a few The nursing staff are friendly, patient and caring. In my opinion, and my mothers, she has always been treated with respect and as a person not a patient. An example of the level of person time given to each resident would have to be (for my Mom & I) the number of times a HCA has painted my Mom's nails. My mothers case worker provides yet another example of going the extra mile, she is always available to me and keeps me up to date as my Mothers health requirements have changed. On that note I would be remiss in not mentioning that my mothers doctor (the one she got through Walden) calls me to discuss my Mother health. Something I had never experienced prior to Walden. I highly recommend Walden Heights when living at home is no longer an option

All in all walden has done a real great job taking care of my 93 yr old father , who had a stroke and suffers from frontal lobe dementia. However, we have been contacted by walden , asking for another 200 dollars a month for his laundry . Walden assured us that his bathroom needs will be well taken care of , as he is a 2 person assist to use toilet . Walden knows my father needs to relieve himself shortly after each meal . But walden staff would rather him soil himself , and wait who knows how long to be cleaned and changed. Now since they no longer do that , they just want the money because they are too lazy to put my father on toilet . So undignified and humiliating for him . So sad that its easier to abuse a senior and let him get bed sores from sitting in his own waste . All because of laziness on waldens part . I am going to ask AHS to investigate this cruel inhumane indignity to a senior . I guess 2900.00 a month doesn't include being able to use facilities like everyone else does . My advice , chk loved ones for bedsores and human waste on clothing . Sick lazy people work at walden .

I can't say enough good things about AgeCare Walden Heights. I was caring for my friend, she was 96 years old and she never wanted to live anywhere but her home. She fought the move into SLD4 but after a week in Walden Heights she was happy and wanted to stay. All the staff were wonderful, I simply can't thank them enough for how well they cared for her. The room was spacious, she enjoyed the meals (and she is very picky), and was very happy. The staff have a very tough job but they do it with a smile and are so caring. They spent a lot of time with Z, especially near the end. I felt like they were family.
