About Affinity Life
Our Story
Affinity Life was founded in Calgary, Alberta in early 2020 by Philip Setter. After losing his close partner in a climbing accident he wanted to make sure his own life insurance needs were met. He found obtaining insurance at an affordable rate that would cover his sports was incredibly complicated and challenging.
Once he found suitable products and companies that could achieve these goals, he set out to share them with the climbing community. However, with Covid-19 in full swing at this point, the need to simplify and digitize this solution was apparent.
After two years of software development, Affinity Life was born: an online digital platform where outdoor enthusiasts could easily obtain life insurance that was both affordable and covered all their outdoor activities.
We never want to deliver a life insurance cheque, but we understand that accidents can happen in the mountains. Our mission is to alleviate at least one overwhelming stress in the face of such tragic accidents. It will never bring our loved ones back, but it can allow us time to heal.

Our Pledge
We donate $25 from each policy sold to search and rescue teams across Canada. SARs play a critical role in the safety and rescue missions throughout the mountains and the adequate funding of their organization is very important to us.
We also donate $25 from each policy sold to Mountain Muskox. Mountain Muskox provides support and community for anyone who has experienced loss or trauma in the mountains while working or recreating. All funds help pay for the professional therapist, meeting space, and program development.
