About Adept Family Lawyers
Emma is an Associate Lawyer with Adept Family Lawyers, practising predominantly in Family Law. Emma represents clients on Family Law issues including but not limited to custody, child support, spousal support, and division of property. She is a skilled litigator. She has successfully represented clients at the Provincial Court of Alberta, Court of Queen’s Bench, and the Court of Appeal of Alberta. Emma is also a skilled negotiator, advocating for resolution through Alternative Dispute Resolution processes in appropriate circumstances.
Additionally, Emma offers clients legal services in the areas of Wills and Estates, recognizing that upon separation, parties often have legal needs beyond the scope of Family Law.
She was the recipient of the David Beatty History Award during her studies at Mount Allison University, where she graduated with the highest GPA among history honours students. She earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of New Brunswick. During Law School, Emma worked extensively with the Public Legal Education and Information Service of New Brunswick, and she continues to advocate for access to justice today.
Outside of the office, Emma enjoys travelling, skiing, hiking, and running with her dog.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had a consultation with Adediran Banke seeking to change a consent court order for my family ordeal regarding division of matrimonial property, and to say that I was happy with it would be an understatement.
Mrs Banke is professional, a good listener, compassionate, straight to the point, and made me feel comfortable, at ease, and that she was actually on my side.
I had e-mailed previous court orders and a summary of the case a few days before our consultation, and she read them all before our consultation, not wasting even a minute of my paid hour.
I told her that I couldn't afford to retain her and basically just needed legal advice and instructions on how to do it myself.
She gave me the best advice, went above and beyond to foresee problems that could potentially arise which I had not even thought of, answered all my questions to issues related to other potential upcoming claims, gently pointed the aspects of my plan and requests which seemed flawed or could be problematic, and directed me to all required forms and procedures I needed to follow.
Minutes before my time was up, I had all my questions answered and was feeling pretty confident about my upcoming court date.
Anyway...a thousand words would not be able to describe how truly competent she is. It was worth every dollar!
My only regret is that I did not consult with her before all my previous appearances - could have saved me a lot of headache.
I highly recommend this family lawyer!

She explained everything to me and was always straight with me about what she thought about what I would say or think, whether she agreed or not and explained why. I was always kept in communications quickly and clearly. She never ever kept me waiting on information. Banke is a very caring lawyer to her clients. She continually checked in while being mindful of billing hours as she knew my situation financially. We ended up settling out of court which she left the decision 100% up to me with no pressure either way. I can tell you this, if you want someone who will care and treat you like a person and not a file number , I suggest you go see Banke.
Susan the firms legal assistant is very attentive as well. If I ever called or emailed her regarding anything she always got right back to me. She would update me on my file monthly. You could also tell that she also cares about the firms clients. I never felt intrusive or rushed in any dealings at all .
