Earlier today, I went to a popular salon to get my eyebrows waxed and tinted before my vacation. I left said salon in tears and feeling like Groucho Marx because they were done so horribly. I was devastated. Thankfully, Cori Flora from Above the Rest Esthetics was available to see me shortly after this happened and saved the day. She was so incredibly kind and optimistic about the whole situation, despite having me be frantic when I first arrived. Her cheery disposition was greatly appreciated and really put me at ease. Cori did not just fix my eyebrows, she actually was able to make them look better than they have ever looked. Without her, I'd be walking around town with fluffy dyed caterpillar eyebrows. I will most definitely be going back to her again, as well as recommending her to my friends and family in the future.

I had previously had a good experience at Above the Rest, so yesterday I looked forward to going again. However, when I got to my appointment -- and began to think about spending an extended period in a small room -- I just thought to ask if she had been vaccinated for Covid. To her credit, she answered honestly that she had not been vaccinated. That answer surprised me -- and is a deal-breaker at the height of this latest Covid surge. She cited some misinformation about the dangers of vaccines, and pointed out that taking a vaccine is "A PERSONAL CHOICE". That may be, but if you really believe in personal choice, you should make it clear to EVERY CLIENT (before they think to ask) that you are ignoring the advice of public health officials and are not vaccinated. Clients have the right to know that you are not vaccinated. Then every client can truly exercise their own PERSONAL CHOICE -- on whether they want to take the risk of spending an extended period of time in very close quarters with an unvaccinated person. If I hadn''t asked, I suspect I would have taken on that risk, without even being aware of it. (Correct me if I'm wrong -- would you have announced your vaccine status to me if I hadn't asked? Are you routinely offering clients that information so that clients, too, get a PERSONAL CHOICE?) That said, she is a very excellent pedicurist, and I hope she gets vaccinated. It's just that my stepson is an MD, and he tells me that the doctors are absolutely losing patience with the unvaccinated people filling ICU beds that heart patients, stroke patients, and cancer patients really need...
