B	Brent B on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have experienced inspectors in the past who will make you feel like the home is going to collapse when in actuality, the home is structurally sound, but being close to 80 years old it is normal to have some settling. My clients hired Joel from About the House Home Inspections and he was fantastic. Joel took the time to explain in detail the issues that were uncovered with the home, where they ranked in terms of priority, the cost for the repair, and if they could or should do the repair themselves. He was prompt, courteous, and most importantly thorough with his inspection. When the inspection finished up, I spent a few minutes speaking with Joel as I felt other clients could benefit from his services. He explained that he was an inspector in the 1990's, and founded the Ottawa franchise for a competing company. He sold that franchise when he was made an offer he couldn't refuse. At that point he began teaching at the trades school - the college in Spring 2019 (after 25 years) he left the college and went back to what he loves - home inspections. He purchased About the House Home Inspection in fall 2019. Would highly recommend

He was very thorough during my condo inspection. I felt that he really took the time to assess the state of the condo, and even checked the appliances, which I later learned was above standard practice. He also gave me tips and pointers and was very patient with answering my questions. He went into the garage and pointed out the kind of sprinkler systems etc. used. I feel much more confident purchasing this property after having the inspection. The report is good, it links to extra information about each topic of you want to learn about it.
