First hike ever. Did it solo. Took it easy. Did the short loop up, long loop down. 14kms, 9 hours return. You'll need good shoes for the switchbacks coming down and trekking poles make it a lot easier. The hike is apparently rated more of an advanced hike and ideal for experienced hikers. I learned that after - I'd just wanted to 'climb a mountain'?. So what's a beginner hike? I'm really not sure, but it must be boring. What's a beginner? Also not sure, but maybe: "When people hiking with me wonder after 30 minutes if we're almost there yet." (This is when I'm tempted to say, "Oh this isn't a hike, this is just a walk. Have I ever told you about Abbott Ridge? Now that's a beginner hike.") ?
