I have recieved excellent mental health care from the 12th Ave clinic. My psyciatrist is empathetic, reassuring and knowledgeable. The staff are very pleasant and professional. They also offer Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMI) at this facility.

The reception at this clinic is absolutely horrible at scheduling. I have still not seen Dr Sahlu in over a year since my referral simply due to how they handle their schedule and lack of communication! So frustrating.

I would give them a zero if it was possible. What a complete joke of a professional office. And I use the word professional loosely. Dr Sahlu's receptionist in particular. I was asked by my Doctor to see this person as a general mental health checkup. First attempted appointment in March was canceled and rescheduled till April. It came and l called to ask why l wasn't contacted for my phone appointment. They had no clue l had an appointment. So they rescheduled for June. In June l called and asked why they didn't call, they said they tried but the number wasn't working. The number they called hadn't been in use for over a year. At this point l got angry and was not impressed. So they misgendered me and call me sir. That did not make the situation any better. So then they said in person in September and l said fine. I show up in September and they said well we dont take in person due to covid. You should of stayed home for a phone call. I had my phone with me, no one had called. They also said a email was sent out 2 days earlier to explain this. I never received it. Rescheduled again for November. I just got off the phone with them. They said l didnt have an appointment in their system. But offered another one later. I said forget it.... your an incompetent office and don't bother to call me again. I am so very done with your lack of professional services. They are a complete joke. Here they are wasting my time with this stupidness when how many people out there are in real need of mental health care. I feel so very sorry for these people. I couldn't imagine how horrible it would be for them if they were in dire needs and couldn't get the resources they desperately needed.

Dr.Sahlu is a fantastic psychiatrist. However the reception needs work desperately, constantly changing appointments with little to no communication to the patient as well as a not so pleasent demeanor. This is not really appropriate for a professional setting that is focused on mental health as people with mental health disorders are most vulnerable. Edited to add: Had my appointment canceled with less than 30mins notice. Its hard enough getting time off for one appointment but having to get another is stressful.
