WPG Timber Co. originated from a love of trees.
Trees add so much value to Winnipeg, they beautify our city, act as gathering places, and provide shelter from our harsh climate. It’s no wonder Winnipeger’s love their trees so much. The devastation Dutch elm disease has caused across North America has been felt the least in Winnipeg because of the measures taken by Winnipeger’s to protect our Elms. Despite this protection, Winnipeg still loses 5,000-10,000 elms a year to Dutch Elm disease alone. Until now the large majority of those elms were chipped into landfills. We saw opportunity in this. Opportunity to make an environmentally friendly wood product for Winnipeg and, at the same time create a better fate for these beloved trees. From that WPG Timber Co. was born. Our mission is to divert as many trees from the landfill as possible, so we can provide Winnipeg with affordable eco-friendly wood products that were grown right in the city you live in, from the trees you love.
