Hi! Hali here. I am thrilled to be joining the Winnipeg Sews team!
I first learned about slow fashion and the broader sewing community when a good friend introduced me to indie patterns only a few years ago. Like many others who have inherited crafting skills from family, I was taught to crochet by my Grandma and in my later teens, turned to knitting. I dabbled in sewing garments (without patterns) but after moving out I no longer had access to a sewing machine. Fast forward about 8 years - I was given a sewing machine and began acquiring all the tools (as one does). Once introduced to indie patterns and the ever-growing home sewing community, there was no going back.
I did a RTW fast in 2019 (aside from some of the essentials) to assess what I was wearing, what I needed in my wardrobe and how much time I actually had to sew. Turns out with two busy boys under the age of 4, there is not a lot of time! Hope to meet you soon and do what I can to encourage you in your sewing journey!

I haven't had the experience of learning with her yet, but I've heard rave reviews from friends who have participated in classes and/or lessons. In short, Winnipeg Sews is a great business run by a wonderful, caring, human.
