★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I think the therapeutic riding program is great. I volunteered there for a while and the actual PROGRAM is really beneficial for the riders and I appreciate what WELCA does for them. However - Their regular lesson programs are not great. Pick almost any other barn in or around the city for a much more hands-on, in-depth learning experience. Everything at WELCA is micromanaged and it's not exactly a place for people who want to improve and grow their riding skills and horse knowledge. Some staff (and volunteers) are very cold and can be patronizing; I suppose that goes along with being a major barn within the city and seeing a million and one people. I did ride with them when I was a kid, but after switching barns I realized how much I was being held back. Just trying to be brutally honest to save kids who want to get into the sport from wasting time and money :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lots to learn about the different breeds of horses. The young lady that took us around was very knowledgeable especially for someone that just started her job at the equine center. She taught us how to handle each of our horses as well as grooming them. At the end of our tour I felt so good! Being around the horses was great medicine for my spirit ?❤
