Overall, an aggressive and unpleasant experience.
Got some kitchen knives sharpened here. They did an ok job overall, but left some chips in the blades and they didn’t sharpen all the way to the hilt (3/7 knives needed a touch up).
The knives aren’t as sharp as they can be either.
When I pointed this out to the owner behind the desk, his response was an annoyed/angry:
“I’ve been doing this for 40 years, so I know how to sharpen knives.”
I had to remind the gentleman that if he’s been doing this for 40 years, why am I having to show him all the stuff that he missed? The sign on the door says “Quality”, so trying to defend a bad job to a customer by saying you’ve been doing this for 40 years is just embarrassing.
They also took 3 days to do the work and they didn’t bother to call, like they promised, to let me know to pick the knives up once they were done
He did do the touch ups on the knives that needed them and he did not charge me for those three knives, so I do appreciate that as I didn’t even ask for a discount.
Here, 40 years of experience gets you quality because age automatically = quality and that’s why they need a sign and a grumpy man to tell you that you’re getting “quality”.
