About Western College Of Remedial Massage Therapies Inc

Our college dates back to 1978. The first on the Prairies teaching to the level we do. Our founders had an idea about how massage can deliver a remedial oriented efficacy, not just relaxation and therapeutic massage provided by other schools.

Changed a 5 star review to a 4 star. First impressions for first review were good, but final bit of classes was not as good and this is from a distance education perspective (maybe full time is good, idk). Some feedback we got in some classes was odd, and things seemed disorganized. It was an excellent education, but the experience was frustrating at times.

I was a student at Western College and I really enjoyed my experience. The teachers knew their stuff and they were always there to help. I had to work hard cause they expect the best out of their students academically and ethically. I would recommend.

DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL, SEVERELY under qualified teachers, you are going to pay 30 grand for only 3 hours of instructional time Monday-Thursday. The school doesn’t care about you at all, it doesn’t even seem like a massage program you learn more physio therapy stuff than massage if I could leave a 0 star rating I would have

Great for the occasional cheap massage from the students, however I have heard horror stories regarding the academic side of the college. The owners are also teachers, so if there are issues with their lackluster courses you are forced to report the issues to.. them.

I graduated from Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies in 2018 and my experience of the school was nothing short of spectacular. I received an excellent and thorough education. My instructors were extremely well educated and amazing at taking the time to answer every question thoroughly. I’m grateful that, as a mature student, the curriculum was delivered to me in compact and efficient manner leaving me with plenty of time to fulfill my other life responsibilities. If you are considering massage therapy as a career I highly recommend WCRMT.

I had an amazing experience as a student of WCRMT. From the moment I walked into the building I knew I was meant to be there. The instructors are all Massage Therapists which is great because they are knowledgeable about what a person will find out in practice. Each instructor had their different ways of teaching, which sometimes you liked more than others but over all they were all great at their job. The course was not easy, you really had to put in the effort in order to achieve greatness. I feel like my education was outstanding and I am proud to say I am a graduate of Western College. Any student that came through these doors was held to a standard and we all had to work hard to achieve that. Those that didn't, fell short.

I was enrolled in this college for less than a week for the accelerated massage therapy program (distance learning with one weekend a month physically in the college). Sheena Goodbrand was the massage instructor for the “in-person” weekend learning. She made uncomfortable jokes about if we “the students” were wearing underwear or not. We were expected to strip down to “booty shorts” or underwear and sports bras/bras within the first weekend for massages from other students (paired up). We were also paired up alongside wrong massage bed heights that do not adjust. When I asked to use the washroom to change instead of changing in the open room with 30 other students, I was told “we don’t have enough time”. Sheena Goodbrand stated “the other student holds up the sheet in front of you”; yet, behind us is a room full of students and open entrance ways to the main hallway. The open floor plan within the massage room for practice should be illegal related to what we are expected to wear. I brought this up with the vice principal - Michael Harvey and principal - Wayne Baiton via emails. I was allowed my tuition money back but completely dropped the program due to Sheena Goodbrand’s sexual comments and expectations related to what to wear during a massage. I still feel upset about this. I was not the only student feeling sexualized/extremely uncomfortable within the course but due to the small class size (about 30 students) and it was the first week, the students didn’t feel comfortable coming forward. I want to voice this as I strongly believe the instructor - Sheena Goodbrand should have been held accountable for her inappropriate sexual comments. I also feel the vice principal and principal (Michael Harvey and Wayne Baiton) should have been forced to put privacy curtains around the massage beds or use the dividers (which were in the room pushed back) at all times. I was looking for more of a resolution but a simple refund to get rid of me is what occurred. Be prepared and expected to strip down to your undergarments in front of several students (male and female) without privacy if you decide to attend this school, along with having to hear Sheena Goodbrand saying inappropriate sexual jokes about underwear and becoming engaged to her fiancée. Not enough time to change in a bathroom to maintain my dignity, but we “the students” are subjected to hear about Sheena’s engagement (who cares?!!!) …. I found this college extremely unprofessional, unethical, and unwilling to correct errors.

Completed my first year of the DE program! I strongly believe the instructors and principals set us up for success and push us to be better therapists. I would recommend this program to anyone. We have all day support outside the college, weekend seminars are organized precisely, and the program is set up in a way that allows us to balance college and a work/family life. Sheena, our seminar weekend teacher, is attentive to detail and sets us up to understand physiology and anatomy by incorporating it in to our practical classes. The teachers are pushing you to succeed and are more involved in your studies hoping for your success - you won't find a college like this anywhere else!
