Course is in good shape and responsible priced

More than 30 yrs since I played here today I think it might be the prettiest course around I played poorly but was very impressed with the course

If you like five hour rounds then this is the course for you. I’ve played this course three times this summer and have yet to get 18 holes in under four and a half hours with today’s round being the worst at just over five hours. No starter on the first tee and no course marshals in sight. The place is a joke.

I'm a beginner golfer and this is the third course I've played. I found the grounds, fairways and greens very well taken care of. The course itself is well laid out and has just enough hazards to be challenging but not frustrating.

Had a 7:30am tee time on Monday August 9th. Pros: Course is well maintained with healthy greens, provides a challenge for avid and occasional golfers alike. Fairly priced, I believe with a discount we paid less than $60 for 18 holes and to ride. Got paired with a solo member and she was very polite. The black tees create a challenge on some holes that is very welcome. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Cons: My main gripe with the course is my same issue with most semi-private clubs, and that would be member entitlement. I'm not sure if it was the day we played or if it is common, but it was definitely an older crowd of members on the course that morning. Half-way through hole 15 we had one of the members in the 4some behind us bark at us that we were slowing down the pace of play and that there were 3 empty holes in front of us. He immediately jumped to the "Are you members here?" attack and after informing him we were not, we reminded him that we were currently on pace for a 3.5 hour round and that if that was too slow for him, he should join a private club because he CLEARLY needs to be on the PGA... he actually made our 3rd so uncomfortable that she didn't finish the full round she had paid for. Asked the manager upon finishing if we were slow and he said we'd be one of the faster groups on the day. This could be alleviated by posting pace of play somewhere visible in the clubhouse or at the first tee. We saw one or two marshals during the day and were not told to pick it up by them. I have no issue with someone politely asking to play through, but this same group that was "stuck" behind us weren't even on 16s green by the time we teed off on 18. It didn't ruin our day by any means as the course was beautiful and we had a lot of fun, but this kind of entitlement from members is the kind of thing that will prevent non-members from giving return business. I know this is an issue at any course but I felt it was worth mentioning.

Great little course! More of a local home flavour to it which I like. Greens and fairways are in good shape. Not bad roughs. The people that work there are all friendly! Challenging layout too!

John Hutchinson and family have been running Warkworth Golf Club for 52 years. It is a challenging course, featuring interesting architecture, impressive scenery and the best greens for many miles around. Most of all members and guests are always treated wonderfully and the 19th hole provides a perfect end to an enjoyable day on the links. Check out the improvements Brad Hutchinson has made over the last 2 years. Impressive!
