Villa Rosa is a prenatal and postnatal residence in Winnipeg. Our mission is to provide support to mothers, babies & their families during and after pregnancy.
About Villa Rosa Inc. - Winnipeg
Villa Rosa is a safe haven for single young pregnant women. The majority of our residents are in their teens but there is no age restriction for our services. Women live at Villa Rosa free of charge. Our funding comes from the Province of Manitoba, the United Way, First Nation communities, and many other foundations and donors.
We provide a place to live, individual counselling, life skills, education and community follow-up to 300 women every year. Last year we were able to accommodate 87 expectant mothers, and each of those was given the chance to finish her high school education as well as access to scholarships for post secondary education. Occupancy is generally over 90% capacity of our 25 spaces. An average stay is 3 – 4 months.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not a place to go if you don't want to be bullied by staff. Staff pretended to be nice on orientation but turned quickly and would threaten CFS if you tried to leave. Very controlling and scary experience I barely made it out of with my baby.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I actually worked at Villa Rosa years ago. The experience affected me in an unbelievable way and still does. Sister Adrienne loved those girls like no other. I even spoke with one of the girls who stayed there recently and she is doing amazing. There is no better place for a unwed mother to spend her pregnancy. Everyone who is fortunate enough to be touched by the staff will do better in life afterwards. God blesses this home continuously.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I lived at Villa Rosa 47 years ago. It was a great place for young women to have the opportunity to learn about making good choices and to make a plan for their future and their child’s future. It also opens your eyes that all people make mistakes and the only difference was that ours showed, which gave many of the girls incentive to be more positive about themselves and their choices. You also learned that a lot of the girls had it worse than you did. The nuns kept a tight ship but it was the structure we needed. Bless the people who worked their for giving all unwed mothers some love that was needed.
