Vermillion Lakes is a lake which is best seen from a distance. The farther away the more beautiful. Up close, it resembles an average lake and when you're on it, it becomes obvious how shallow it is. Especially late in the season where it's quite possible to get stuck. I give it 4 stars if you access it from the public dock in Banff via Forty mile creek. The creek will be the highlight, however.

Simply beautiful at any time, especially sunset. Free activity and easy to get around

Absolutely beautiful and stunning set of lakes minutes from Banff. They are perfect for walking, biking, or driving beside. They also offer stunning views of Mount Rundle. However, the Government of Canada needs to do a better job of articulating the Indigenous history of the region and solely focus on settler history.

Enjoy a funny trip inside the pond. Kayaking inside is very safe because the depth of water just drawn your ankles. Watching around,so many birds are sleeping in grass.

Absolutely beautiful area! We visited in Dec 2021 and were able to ice skate on top of one of the lakes. Great fun and incredible views all around.

Such a beautiful area! It's easy to get to but one downside is that there isn't a designated parking lot or area to park so it's hard to find space if it's busy and you're not technically supposed to park on the side but most people do. The road by Vermilion lakes goes pretty far and the views are incredible all the same!

The road is not accesible for RVs. You can park next to the road. The view of the lakes is simply amazing. There are three lakes in total.

One of the best places in Banff National Park to observe and photograph Mt. Rundle any season, any time. Better to be there on sunset and sunrise late spring, or summer or early fall when lakes free or partly free of ice and weather is not windy. During summer you may get a lot of mosquitos, so be prepared for that
