Unfortunately not happy with Downtown and east side police department, they need to focus on those illegal markets on Hasting area were all those Vancouverites stollen property is for sale off the streets were all Junkies are laying down on the crosswalk and doing drugs and selling stollen items. I had a theft incident couple days a go, some one broke into my car it was parked on Howe and Smithe( safest are in downtown due to high volume of traffic and people).Following day I fixed my car window and I figured If I Cruise by all those little junkie markets on Hasting and Cordova,I might be able to find my boat accessories which was stolen that night, and yes it happened. Yeah so I called the police I did want to confirm with them before I had any contact with the junkies, the cop showed up and directly went into the crowd of junkies and picked up the item I pointed then I asked if this was it?So they made an effort to ask the crowd who is stuff this for sale? Every body either was silent or saying we don’t know. Basically the law enforcement at this particular area does a very weak performance. The safety of expensive downtown ( Vancouver in general) visitors and residents property is what they need to assure.”, they even are not helpful enough to invest and find those groups of people who are braking into peoples Cars in the heart of downtown. And stilling people’s stuff and selling them 5 blocks further down the street. Very very weak, very unprofessional and I feel so embarrassed if that would happen to a visitor or a tourist. This actually happened to me three times for the last four years and also exact same situation happened to one of my co-workers last week. apparently it’s pretty common I’m quite confident about the statistics I could guess since ICBC answering machine is also has a extension Number specifically for broken Glass or broken window, sounds like it.

Pretty much useless. I was visiting Vancouver on 8/2/19 and my rental car was broken into while parking in garage on Robson Street. I was with three other young women on a work trip and no officer even bothered to show up to help us. I lost about $1,700 worth of personal property and they don't seem to want to investigate at all. Probably because I'm non local and not Canadian. But also sounds like this kind of thing happens a lot and nothing is done. Parking garage had cameras but my police report states that no witness or no camera was in use. I have been trying to verify this but they are very difficult to get a hold of and don't seem to care at all anyway. Thanks VPD. Definitely won't ever visit again or tell anyone else to visit Vancouver. What a disappointing response.
