Any licensing College is best avoided due to its bureaucracy. As the saying goes "You can't fight City Hall"

The Union has not done a good job fighting for working conditions of nurses. It’s ridiculous that nurses are required to work in such unsafe conditions without support from the union. Staffing shortages are critical and it doesn’t seem like anything has been done about it. I don’t feel adequately represented and protected by the union

Tried re-instating my license and apparently, the process has changed. Was told β€œwell you wouldn’t receive an update anyway because your status is non practicing”. Talk about a lose lose situation. If there’s such a shortage, why make it harder for nurses to get back to the workforce. I want to work, but making me go through hoops is not gonna help. What a joke. All they want is to do take your money and waste your time. They don’t care so long as they get their cut.

I can't imagine how much money this organization is collecting from BC nurses and aspiring nurses from abroad. I know they are there "to protect the public" but how often and how much do they really take money out to lay all the complaints. This needs transparency. They collect huge amount annually from BC nurses plus they require even more HUGE amount of FEES from nurses overseas. My wife is currently working on her upgrading in BC as an RN back home, completed all docs to NNAS but then they required her another same set of docs. So far, my wife paid to BCCNM~$2k for NCAS assessement plus "international nurses assessment" for $600. And probably after this when finally registering for practicing RN another $$$.xx . Imagine how may thousands of nurses paying them these amounts, all the international nurses. Yes there is nurse shortage and I feel it as I work in critical care unit. All this doesn't help nurses. I hope this will be addressed.

Very poor representation of nurses, unless they are fighting to save the career of somebody who's unsafe practice has resulted in poor patient care. Action speaks louder than words and BCCNM is nothing but talk and photo ops. They do very little to advocate for safer work environments for nurses.

Insanely high cost of the annual registration fee that keeps going up every year. The BC government needs to regulate this College for taking advantage of hardworking BC nurses and for stealing their hard earned money by charging them ridiculous high registration fees. I would give this College -100 stars.

After 3 plus decades of nursing in BC, I am full of relief to be clear of this massive umbrella organization that provides little but collects HUGE annual fees. Each year I sent my money but saw ZERO returns for it over my entire working career. I was fortunate to work hospital wards[neurosurg, palliative, geriatrics, peds] in a time when we were very proud of being nurses. We were respected, supported and had teams that had our backs 100%. As I watch exhausted, overloaded nurses with little protection out there, who are now at extreme risk for violence and illness d/t work conditions, I am sad beyond belief. The decay that has been allowed to happen is just so wrong and it seemed to start when RNABC became something bigger. We once had an association. Now we have a conglomerate umbrella overseeing our annual payments and offering discipline[though not always appropriately or timely] but nothing that helps the nurse on the floor ! So sad that I no longer even say that I was a nurse. Mainly because of the downfall that I have seen in the past 5 years. We were once so proud of our work. We believed we made a difference. We had support. I don't see that anymore. But the nurses are paying huge fees now. So very sad :(

I called to discuss my practice concerns with my workplace-one of the major health authorities. They seemed to be unable to help-review the practice standards (done), talk with the manager (done), write a letter (done) so now what BCCNM? I pay hundreds of dollars each year, feel nurses are forced to provide substandard care, and what? Nothing from you? If the role of BCCNM is to "protect the public" then do it already. Nurses are screaming for help to protect their patients and you do nothing.
