★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First of all if you don’t have an investment advisor....get one ASAP....if you’re not getting the results you think you should be getting , change advisors, it’s not hard. The more time you have with a great financial advisor the better. If you think about it, your CFP will be part of your life for your entire life...you want someone you can get along with and will be around over the next few decades. Someone who’s honest and has a vested interest in your success. Robert Van Alphen at CIBC Wood Gundy is that guy..... He has a young family, investing is his passion, his success is your success, he’s easy going, and he’s not moving away anytime soon lol. Fads come and go, like those low fee websites, but it’s about overall outcomes. With Robert’s help I went from working at a job that I didn’t like very much, to total financial freedom. Helping, to minimize taxes, maximizing growth, looking after my kids education funds, etc...For over a decade Robert has taken care of all of this for us and we’re doing really well.

However, now that I am drawing down my RRIF the amount that I take out is almost exactly the same as my growth. It's really nice to be able to hang onto my savings and yet have a little extra cash each month. PS - yes, we are related but I appreciate the great service!

We moved here 7 years ago and it was approx 5 or 6 years ago we moved our investments from TD in Sidney, BC to Robert with TD Wealth Management in Penticton. Immediately we felt a connection with Robert. He is very genuine, personable and friendly as well as has a great wealth of knowledge on all the investment types that suit our needs and comfort zone. In addition to reassessing the funds we had and making changes that suited our needs and comfort level, he also helped us get started in setting up our TD Direct Investing accounts so that we could buy stocks on our own as TD Wealth Management did not deal with stocks. Robert gives great advice and I love that he is happy to discuss stocks with us in addition to mutual funds etc. We have had some great conversations. When Robert told us that he was leaving TD and moving to CIBC, we moved our TD Wealth portfolios with him. Robert stays up to date on world events that have influence that can impact the markets and suggests changes to our investments when prudent to do so. He is very thorough in his explanations, takes the time to explain things in terms that we can understand. He is very patient. He aways makes himself available via phone, email or in person. He is trustworthy and always puts his clients first. We highly recommend Robert to all investors whether new to investing or seasoned investors and all in between.
