Valente Mary Dr

Absolutely worst family physician in Thunder Bay as well as the most unprofessional secretary.. I don’t understand how she is still able to practice and how Mary valentes secretary hasn’t been fired for being rude and completely unprofessional with almost all her patients.. I’m switching doctors that’s for sure.. I feel bad for Mary’s patients.. nobody deserves the treatment they give..

After an extended time in St Joes hospital, a doctor was completely amazed Dr M Valente was my family MD. He asked me many times if I was sure she was?? You see I'm was just a blue coller worker, doing quite well, but was not rich, and had no high society status, which was the surprise for this doctor!! Wow. After years of mishaps, 600lb log falling from a crane, landing on me twice, being ran over a few times,and a bunch of many other incidents, I've always walked into the emergency department, got stitched up, and walked out. A whimp I am not, and never had any mishaps that ever slowed me down much. But in 2014, things caught up with me. Surgeries that have lasted many hours, removal of part of my pancreas, much of my intestines, 3 cages and steel rods to help fix 3 broken vertebrae and 7 blown and missing discs. Yes, I've slowed down, not by choice. As of now on average I spend about 20-22 hours a day in bed, can't do nothing, or even eat properly. In an average week, I vomit dozens of times. Numerous ambulance rides, many I don't remember because of my extreme highs with my sugar levels and also the dropping of sugar levels that I go into diabetic ceasures. That's scary when you live alone. Thank heavens I've had people that know if I don't answer the phone, they come over and need to call 911. Always the same response from top doctors and specialists, from TO,and here at home. You need pain control so that food can stay in your system. These other doctors always get me back on track and tell me to see my family doctor so she can follow our recommendations. I go see Dr M Valente and she says, since my pancreas has issues now, she can't do anything!!!! Wow! How can a doctor go against specialists, that sometimes she's even sent me to go see, and then not do absolutely nothing for me???? This is nuts.I've tried to get another family MD, but am turned down because I have a family MD already. In her opinion, medication can't be given to me due to my pancreas. So how is it other doctors,sometimes teams of doctors in the hospital are needed to get me fixed up, and they always get my pain level lowered enough that I can once again stomach food and away I go. All great until I see my family MD!!! Then no help, just lectures on my want of some kind of pain control!! So thanks to Dr M Valente, I'm almost a complete shut in, nobody wants to be around me anymore, first because I can't function, second, I'm miserable, who wants to be around that,ever????. Nobody!!! She has ripped any kind of life away from me, that I may possibly live. Every morning I'm disappointed because I woke up, and not passed away.so what is she trying to save?? By not dealing with the pain, my body is under constant distress, and sugar levels can't be at all controlled, until I'm hospitalized and other doctors had me in their care, which really fustrates the specialists at the centre for complex diabetic care. They struggle so much to control my diabetes, which is impossible because pain is ridiculous, and my body just refuses to allow any food to stay in me because the pain locks me up!! So what do I do, and what is she trying to save?? Extend my life so I can lay in bed unable to move starring at the ceiling?? How does any of this make sense. Because of no pain control, my body is doing more damage to itself is what the other doctors and specialist s tell me. With laws in place governing pain medications, because of street people overdosing, specialists and other doctors aren't allowed to prescribe pain medication, that duty falls upon your family physician! And the lies she tells me, I've had proof catching her in lies. But yet, I'm the one wrong!! Maybe I'll win the lottery one day and have status so she'll one day help me properly and actually being professional about my health. If you have simple issues, she's OK, if you need real help,run, run fast and far,if you can. Being a shut in isn't anyway to live life!! Troy Jacobson

Dr. Valente has been my family physician for over 25 years. She combines expertise and willingness to listen and discuss. The staff has always been great too.

My daughter and I have had Dr. Mary Valente for many years now as our physican. I have had several visits and some serious health concerns over the years of which Im not going to elaborate on. I can honestly say she has been great with ordering tests etc. when there has been a health concern. Even more importantly she makes me feel comfortable and answers my questions and listens to what I have to say. No complaints from me whatsoever!
