There was a farmer's market there and it was nice. Unionville in general is a nice quaint spot with some good restaurants. Nice little outing.

I walk there 1 or 2 times a week with my granddaughter. It is nice to let her see the train goes by. The city keeps the location snow clear. You can sit down on the bench, and watch the train pass by.

While visiting Unionville it is nice to see the Unionville train station. The station is one of the oldest standing train stations in Canada. It was built in 1871 for the Toronto & Nipissing (T&N) railway by A T Button with the purpose to transport lumber, grain and other products along the Toronto to Coboconk line. This station created major growth and commerce in Unionville and the surrounding area. Eventually the station fell into disrepair and also suffered fire damage. There was discussion to demolish the station, however in 1993 it was restored back to its original condition with the support of the local municipality. Then the station was designated a heritage rail station site due to it's historic value and architectural design. When visiting the station look at the wainscotting as well as the tongue and groove wood workmanship that was used when the building was originally constructed along with the neighboring restored grain elevator building next to the station. If you like my reviews, photos or videos rail up a thumb's crossing.
