I am so grateful that I can get free and proper help with my mental health problems. This place probably saved my life.

If you are referred to Tri- cities Mental Health, for your own good, ask for another referral somewhere else. Save your self the aggravation and the frustration of dealing with incompetent people and doctors that don't help. The doctors are there to collect a pay check not to help you. If this place has so many bad reviews is because they are that bad. The good reviews were probably written by their staff.

I needed drastic help as I was quite distraught and though I might harm myself. I was told by the receptionist the wait to hear back was up 6 to 8 weeks. The receptionist was amazing she heard in my voice I needed help now. She said she wasn't a mental health worker but told me to go to Emergency seeking psychological help. They could assist me straight away. She was kind and warm. I would give her a 10 star. I'm sure she was responsible for the call I received from a worker within a day. Awesome I thought, but after going through my story with this person all she could do was question me, and offered to tell me about two different groups they had going at their place. That isn't going to work for me, I needed someone I could relate to and trust to get through the hell I was living. i didn't get help here. I got a pat on the head (which probably wasn't her aim) and told 'well not sure what I was told' other than 'we cannot help you'. My cousin who is a psych nurse was shocked. I recommend them if you want to divulge you history and struggles in a group. I went in a week later and gave the receptionist a gift card for hearing my pain. She was so surprised...to hear her compassion was helpful. She made me feel like a heard.

waited 2 months for a phone call conversation with a psychiatrist who barely let me speak about my issues just to label me as borderline and tell me that I didn't require his services lol. this phone call only lasted 10 minutes.

i would give 0 stars if possible. hopefully you don't get Anastasia kulcher, she is very inexperienced at life and very dismissive. fire her if you get her, not worth wasting your time.

Save your time and energy these people are not here to help. All run by fraser health and the government just there for them to make money to push people out the door as fast as they can. No consideration or feeling on how you feel or if are feeling better. I'm surprised these doors are still open with this type of rating and review. But that's are health care system for you its slowly going down the drain. My experience being here is very minimal. They do the bare minimum and book you in every 3 weeks. The psych will see you ever 3 months. If it's a crisis you are told to call the crisis line not your case manager. These people are educated and book smart. But have no empathy or consideration for the "Person" or feelings your just a job and number in a system. New west mental health and bby mental health are very well run and want to help you. This place needs a whole new makeover maybe a new manager and a look at who is working there.?

Irresponsible mental health workers. They cut me off from services because I moved. I asked them to wait until after Christmas as it was December and my husband had died and Christmas was a really hard time for me. They cut me off anyway. I went through Dec with no support as I was on a waiting list in my new community. I relapsed into a deep depression and was having suicidal thoughts. I never felt like the staff cared. It always seemed like they were too busy to talk to me and when I did get to speak with someone it seemed like I was a huge burden for them. It's very unfortunate that this service is so unhelpful.

My own experience wasn't that bad. But I have to say I had many years of experience with other groups, doctors psychologists psychiatrists self help groups, books etc. so what they were offering I was comfortable with. Basically Tri cities was there to offer some support. They can not cure you and they do not replace psychiatrists or psychologists. A referral at least to a psychiatrist is necessary and there are several with long waits. Mental health is not a linear problem and you will always be managing your symptoms. I agree with most voices here that often staff have many shortcomings. Just remember most of them have probably not walked in your shoes and do not interpret or see the world the way you do. They may never understand your fears, anxieties, shame loss of reality etc. that come with your shoes. Be patient and seek many resources. If you get even one helpful piece of information or kindness from a group it's worth it. IfTri cities is not the right resource for you there are others. Your mental health is your journey to walk in as many shoes as you need until you find the ones that feel comfortable.
