Went there today for blood work and an ultrasound. Virtually no line for blood work. Just a short one. There was a bit of a wait for my ultrasound but I was a bit early. I was in around 1. Shortly after probably then left by 230 at the latest. I think that’s pretty good. I had to wait 15-20 minutes after the ultrasound. To make sure the images were fine. Professional treatment all the way. They had plenty of technicians. Enough to handle the appointments coming in. I parked on Bathurst city parking. $3/hr prepaid credit or cash. Used a gps Waze to direct me home during rush hour traffic thank God.

I had a decent experience here a week ago. I was checked in and admitted within a reasonable amount of time. Probably 15-20 minutes to see the intake nurse and then another 25 minutes waiting to get registered and another 15 minutes or so to get called to the back. They are following covid protocol to the best of their abilities. Everyone has masks on. In the back of emerge after you go in they have spaced out everyone decently and there’s plexiglass between all chairs (in front too). They did quite thorough blood work on me which I was very happy about. I also was treated nicely by the triage nurse and the attending doctor. My first doctor actually had his resident student see me and she listened to EVERYTHING I had to say which made me feel heard for once because all my symptoms were being discussed prior to this visit. There’s a bit of a privacy issue. I think even without covid there are no rooms (atleast where I went) just curtains so I heard what everyone was dealing with. One nurse I saw bugged me at first because I thought he was irritated at me for not wanting to get bloodwork. He was kind of sarcastic and said β€œso your headaches gone then” when I was saying I was nervous about getting iv and blood since the last time I was at emerge I got a blown vein and fainted. He came back a little while after and stayed with me and was understanding so it helped. When I saw the doctor I was met with a nice male surgeon who actually looked at my previous files and said he knew my doctor from another hospital. He offered me the option to treat my symptoms and go home or wait to do imaging which helped because I would’ve had to wait until April. There are some pros and cons. I would definitely go here if I was experiencing an emergency again. HOWEVER I removed 2 stars for specific reasons but they are things I’m sure that can be improved. I understood that other patients would probably need a bed over me considering my issue but overnight atleast 3 beds were empty and I was never offered to lay in one. It was pretty uncomfortable to sit in a small chair for HOURS. Another thing I didn’t like was they never told me an update during the night about how long it would take to get the imaging. Around 11-Midnight the doctor had said I’d be there for a while so I thought to myself Ok I probably won’t go home before 4:30-5am. I was not seen again (except once around 4 to draw for bloodwork) until like 8-30 am. I thought they might’ve forgot about me so I went to ask the nurse what I was waiting for and they said mri called in the middle of the night and said call back at 8. I wish they told me so I could’ve slept in my chair or wish they atleast offered me a bed. After doing my imaging in the morning the tech was nice but straightforward. Again I could hear the patient in the next beds situation. After I came back to emerge from imaging no one plugged my iv back in which started taking its toll because I had not eaten or drank anything for almost 2 days. I asked someone for help and she said in a minute but never came back. No one really paid attention to me and I was now sitting in front of the nurses desk area which was getting irritating. I caved in and had to ask for ice chips because I felt so dehydrated. This was making my pain worse. I told a nurse it was weird they didn’t plug my iv back in when I came back from imaging. She proceeded to plug it back in but I thought it was gross because my iv line had been hovering above the floor upstairs. Anyway the doctor from midnight saw me in the morning and apologized that I’d been there all night in a chair. He gave me info and discharged me. I was just concerned because no one looked in my ear the entire time and they wouldn’t have looked up my nose either had I not asked. Ask to see your records online and register its very helpful.

Nice and friendly staff who go out of way to help patients with their needs. Wait time is long for visiting er but it is common across other hospitals in the province. They attended to my needs and provides me with the right diagnosis. I am thankful for everyone who works here.

The same rude triage nurse from when I came here pregnant in 2008 with chest pains after being diagnosed with blood clots in my lung is still here!! I came here that time in 2008 to inform them that my chest was still badly hurting and my blood thinner medication dose might be too low and she laughed right in my face and told me to go home and eat a sandwich. I'll never forget her face. I cried so much over that incident. I would have died had I listened to her stupidity because later that night, the doctors advised me that my dose was in fact too low and then increased it. So my visit was VALID. Today I come to the ER and she says there's no point in my being here for my severely noticeable swollen shoulder. HOW THE HECK IS SHE STILL EMPLOYED AT TWH IF SHE OBVIOUSLY HATES PEOPLE AND HER JOB!? I've never had an issue with any of the doctors here or any other nurse...besides her and only her. She's an awful human with zero respect and consideration for other people and their feelings. She's useless and clearly only there for her paycheque. The one star is solely because of that disrespectful triage nurse but I still appreciate the awesome doctors that have cared for me here over the years.

Someone was puking in the waiting area and calling out in pain. He was left there for about an hour with a puking bucket. Not sure how sanitary that was for the rest of us.. and made the long waiting experience even more painful. The doctor also spend a few minutes with me after 4 hours of waiting. Didn’t explain my X-ray or blood work at all. Just said to look at it online and that everything looks good. Felt like a waste of time to be honest.

I think the wait of 3-4 hours it very decent in the city like Toronto. No complain, I heard people sometimes wait 7-10 hours Nurse who gave me a blanket and made me feel so comfortable at the exam room is the sweetest person ever, Doctor Ringer was so kind and add me feel more comfortable and calmed me down, everyone were super sympathetic and understanding. I’m satisfied with the timing, exam, prescription and advised. Thank you very much for all the work you for us!

I just seen that this hospital has only a 3.5 star rating. And I can't understand why??? I've had 3 surgeries here over the last 20 odd years, been in and out of emergency many times with my 2 sons and myself for various reasons Many times over the years, each time the place was CRAZY WITH CHAOTIC PEOPLE EVERYWHERE, Every time the CARE given was AMAZING ALL THE NURSES AND DOCTORS WERE PASSIONATE AND LOVING This Hospital is Probably one of the Best Big City Hospitals anywhere in the World ? GUARANTEED .

Had knee surgery done and from the moment I entered the day surgery unit I received fantastic care. At every step of the way I was kept informed of what was to transpire. All staff were friendly, polite, professional and informative. The nurses were very caring. They were concerned with my level of pain and did everything possible to make me comfortable. I could not have asked for better service.
