★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This so called "jazz" festival has become an embarrassment, both unto itself and the city of Toronto. Yes, there is some great jazz in the clubs and larger concert venues during the festival (i.e. Koerner Hall), yet a large part of the festival is the main stage concerts at Nathan Phillips Square. Over the past number of years, there has been a saddening and very disgusting trend towards booking anything and everything except jazz! Why is this called a jazz festival when everything except jazz is being booked? What are they going to book next...One Direction sans auto-tune? How about Justin Bieber? This festival now sucks given the direction it has been taken in. I urge all jazz fans to boycott this hideous monstrosity of a so called "jazz festival".
