Don is a great trainer. I've been going to him since I got my very first dog years ago and now with my second. Milo has started his first obedience class at just 3 months old, a couple of days after he arrived home. Don has taught him a variety of tricks and also how to behave around humans and dogs. He has taught Milo to be a very well-mannered and a lovable dog. Milo has only just been there for a couple of months, but I can already recognize Milo's progress drastically increase.

Don is a master! After doing extensive research on trainers I came across TK and have never looked back! We have been working with Don for the last 10 months with Gus (our 1 year old Bernese Mountain Dog) and we have seen a night and day difference! Don's attention to detail and methods on how to deal with certain behavioral characteristics have been nothing short of phenomenal! My wife and I have had nothing but a positive experience with the TK Canine training center and the family atmosphere it creates. If you want to learn proper canine leadership and if you want a dog who doesn't require a treat for every command you give (like the 90% of trainers) this is the place and Don is the trainer!

Don is an amazing trainer. I like his approach of teaching dogs to become well mannered and that a dog's behaviour starts at home. Treats are used but very sparingly and there are no baby voices used to talk to dogs (huge pet peeve of ours). Don's method of training fits with our lifestyle.

Don knows what he's doing, highly recommend. Edit: Obedience training is over and the difference it made with my dog is amazing. Don has been kind throughout the whole time and even accommodated my schedule even at short notice due to covid. Thank you so much Don.

Don’s style of training isn’t for everyone. He teaches “leadership” skills for the owner and repeats the same routine every time we see him. We went to correct our dogs jumping behaviour and improve his recall, neither of which was addressed. Instead he went back to the basics of “sit”, “stay” and “heal” which we already knew. For $450 over 6 one-hour lessons, we did not feel like we got our moneys worth. He just talked the whole time and often left the room to deal with parking or personal matters. One hour really means 45 minutes of the same routine over 6 weeks. Especially during wintertime when you’re forced to be inside the house, there’s not a lot of room to walk around or train. We felt the most useful tool taught was the can shaking (for $450 lol). Overall disappointed with the level Of training given. He may have been good 10 years ago but not worth the money now. He doesn’t even own a dog himself. *edit after don’s response* we stated our primary objectives prior to registration. Once paid, none of it was addressed (he never allowed off leash and every time we voiced our concerns, his reply would be something along the lines of “we will address it next week”). We got frustrated as every single class was just sit, stay, heal on repeat for an hour. Even with the Same family members in attendance, that’s all we did for six private lessons. You learn the command “sit” for one hour, “stay” for one hour, “heal” for one hour etc. when all 3 can be taught within one lesson. It was a total buzz kill. I cannot and will not recommend Don. It’s $450 down the drain - think twice before you commit. Contrary to what he said (he has mistaken me for another owner), we NEVER went off leash and NEVER practiced recall.

I called to inquire about dog classes for my 1 year old German Shepherd Border Collie. Without even meeting my dog in person, I was told to "go back to where you take the lessons" because my dog is part German Shepherd and "they are over protective and aggressive". First, that is an over generalization as he is not aggressive, he is shy and that is why second, I contacted a trainer to help us learn. Our phone conversation was only for a few minutes and right away, he repeatedly told me I had a bad and aggressive dog just because he was part German Shepherd.

Like Another reviewer, we had a disappointing experience with Don. We lost patience and grew frustrated as he taught the most basic commands (sit and stay, which our dog had already knew) for weeks and never taught us how to correct his jumping, barking and recall (our primary concerns). We also paid $450 for 6 hours (6 weeks), unfortunately I don’t think it was worth it at all. We have a big dog and to be training him inside a small 75sf room didn’t work for us or him. If you can wait until the summertime to sign up, maybe it’ll be better, as we were constrained by the poor weather.
