This guy is the REAL deal! He's extremely knowledgeable and a very pleasant person to deal with. Don't hesitate to evaluate his skis - you won't regret it.

Skiis look great and perform even better. I feel like I have been born again or maybe 20 years younger and loving every minute of it. The skis made me feel so great about skiing again. I booked a ski trip and skied backcountry in the Rockies. I am hooked again. Thinking about buying another set . This time big fat backcountry. Awesome job guys thank you.

WHY would you want a custom ski? WHAT do you get with a custom ski? Why? VALUE! Compare buying an “off the rack” suit or outfit at a clothing store. Try on. Look. Determine alterations needed. Final product (manufactured in the 10’s of 1000’s), looks “OK” at best. If you only wear it once or twice a year, that’s a good value. If you wear it regularly—you get the picture? Not a good value. But at slightly higher price point, a suit or outfit from a tailor or seamstress will fit exactly you—looks great all the time and gets enough use to be a great value. What? Dave, the owner (a qualified ski Instructor) , skied with me for a day just to observe how I skied and on what terrain I chose. Try and get that in a ski shop! He then tweaked the camber and made a few other adjustments to the original design. The resulting custom ski performs much better than any “off the rack” ski (that can’t be altered), fits ME exactly —feels great all the time and is a truly no-compromise great value. Think about it—the cost of traveling to the ski area plus accommodations plus lift ticket plus meals just to get on the hill. Didn’t you come for the best skiing experience once you get off the lift? Dave is a meticulous craftsman. He also built in “extras” in the ski, including a front bumper tip and a rear bumper tail to prevent possible damage when the gondola operator slams your skis into the holding basket. But wait—there’s more. For example, the bases are racing bases—which means less drag, so much more responsive turning and overall control—you’re never “fighting” the ski. Both pair of skis came out exactly as expected. Incredible quality and "fit." If you want a ski built for YOU, look no further. Exceptional! Almost wish I needed more than an All mountain and a Powder ski. Finally—the “perfect fit” ski. BTW: This review is unsolicited. I’m a senior. Been skiing for over 50 years. Still go hard. Been skiing all over western North America from Alyeska to Taos, including as much Helicopter skiing as I could afford. Been there—done that (have quite a collection of trail maps)!

Absolutely over the Moon with my new skis. David was a pleasure to work with and the results are a perfect pair of skis for my personal requirements. I got to put a personalized logo on them, so it really cool to know that I have a completely unique pair of skis that nobody in the world has exactly the same. I can not recommend Throughbreed skis enough.

What is better than custom skis??? Making them yourself, or at least getting your hands in on the process. I cannot speak highly enough of the experience. Thanks for the opportunity to learn from you Dave! I will be seeing you again. The skis are a carving dream.

What an awesome experience. I was interested in how skis were made and wanted to learn about the process. I quickly found Dave and Thoroughbred Skis in Golden BC. I live here, so I was able to meet Dave for the deisgn consult and shortly after we got to work. Spent three days in his shop and participated start to fininsh in the skis. Very cool experience. I also am very happy with the final product. I skied them several times at the resort, and got them in the back country after the lifts sadly closed early this year. Great product and experience, and Dave is a great guy too. Highly recommended, whether you want the skis or the experience (and the skis).
