Thorold Community Pool

My visit there with my sons started out nice. It was a busy day with lots of families and daycare kids from next door enjoying the pool also. This is where is turned rough, my one son who is always a green wristband (deep end) swimmer went to do his swim test. There was a lot of kids and people in his way and it interfered with his test causing them to give him a yellow wrist band. Once we talked to the female lifeguard about him redoing his test she completely understood and encouraged him to wait just 10 mins ish, as the daycare kids would be leaving the pool then. he could redo the test and the pool would be a lot less crowded for him. We thanked her and he played and waited happily. When time came, it also came time for lifeguard rotation then we got a RUDE ARROGANT SELF Righteous guy named Buckley who said he wasn’t going to allow him to do a retest in the same day. My son upset “obviously “ came to me and told me so I went to him and tried to explain what had been previously discussed with the female lifeguard and he responded with “well I’m here now aint I?” He said said he wasn’t going to let him do the test again and it didn’t much matter because there was only 20 mins left. I said it did matter, he was promised and he’s been waiting. I had to proceed to speak with the supervisor on duty. Explain his unprofessional behaviour and rudeness to myself in front of my 9 yr old son. She apologized for his behaviour and said my son could redo his test in the other lane and she would watch him. When we went to the other side and I tried explaining that. He said “you don’t tell what he’s doing or where he’s swimming I’m the lifeguard here not you”. I said I’m simply trying to explain to you what my conversation with your supervisor was. I will be filing a more formal verbal complaint with the city about Buckley’s behaviour and lack of professionalism to myself and in front of my son.

Great facility, daughter loves the warm water and shallow entry.

A great community pool on a hot day. Quite busy as there was a day camp using the facilities. The pool is quite large with a deep end with diving board, a shallow swimming end, another cordoned off area with a slide and a shallow area with a slope for tiny children. We drive 20 mins from st catharines to use this pool due to our city having closed its outdoor pools.

It was all right, but I only got 10 minutes to swim as I arrived late. Staff was friendly and helpful.

I’m sure the pool is great, I’ve been there before but they don’t answer the phone at all.

Very impressed with this pool. There were several lifeguards and staff visible. The splash pad, water slide, wading pool and swimming pool (with diving board) were all connected, so the whole family can be in one area. There were shady areas and benches. You are also allowed to bring in coolers and your own chairs. There is a small charge but well worth it.

A great place for a quick dip on a hot summer day. The pool is sometimes crowded but the temperature is ideal. One concern for 3 years only 2 of the 3 showers work.
