The Scottish Shoppe & A Little Bit of Ireland - Calgary
About The Scottish Shoppe & A Little Bit of Ireland
White Heather Imports was founded in Calgary in 1971 and we are celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2021. Jim Osborne bought the shop in 1996 when he was looking to leave the construction business. His involvement in the Scottish community coupled with the retirement of founders John and Jean Whitelock provided a timely opportunity.
Jim is a cabinet maker by trade and worked in some of the great houses in North East Scotland, restoring antiques and doing installations. He immigrated to Calgary in 1976 with his young family and worked for a few local companies before establishing his own millwork. Local examples of his fine cabinet making can be found in locations such as The Ranchmen’s Club and The Petroleum Club.
Jim remains committed to the Scottish and Irish communities in Calgary and across western Canada. He is an active member of the Calgary Burns Club and The 78th Fraser Highlanders and is pleased to provide support to cultural and community organizations wherever he does business.

β β β β β Confession I only go here for the imported food but their clothing and other items look great quality and well worth a look. Back to the food, being from across the pond itβs great to have somewhere nearby that I can get Irish βcrispsβ and chocolate. Love their selection and how they make you feel right at home when you come into the store.

β β β β β My favorite place to buy my treats from back home. They have so much more than food though. Family run business and the family are truly lovely people. Am proud to support them.

β β β β β Phenomenal service! They offer a wide array of celtic products, and a good selection of rental clothing for more formal kilted occasions. Definitely worth a visit!

β β β β β I get my bacon and blood pudding from here as well as monster munch and other crisps and chocolate goodies. Love the shop, love the family who own it and Kensington is a pretty cool neighborhood to visit.

β β β β β I love this store, I'm personally of Irish decent but I'm a big fan either way. My fiance got my engagement ring there(I like rings and she's aware of my affinity for Celtic design) and I loved it, sadly my puppy bit it really hard and it's squished in and no longer wearable
