Owner & Level 4 Stylist
Alison is the owner and operator of The Room Hair Design. The Room was founded in April of 1986 and Alison took over ownership from Shelley Hoffman, in September of 2014. Alison was born and raised in Regina, Sk. and completed her cosmetology schooling in June of 2008 at Richard’s Beauty College. Alison went to high school in Regina at Balfour Collegiate and graduated in 2004. She also attended a program with Youth For a Mission (YWAM) in 2005 in Perth Australia, carrying out humanitarian work in Cairo, Egypt.
Throughout her career Alison has invested countless hours into additional education both for her creative side and business side. She has attended Leadership and Management training through Dale Carnegie, The Schwarzkopf ASK Academy, Qnity for Aveda, and Aveda Business College. Not to mention countless courses and classes in hair cutting and colouring through Schwarzkopf, Aveda and Redken. Alison believes strongly in fostering the growth of the industry and building strong, career focused hair stylists, through mentorship, education and drive. Alison has also worked at The Style Academy as a Guest Services Educator guiding and instructing up and coming new hair stylists.
Alison enjoys giving back to the community by participating in and coordinating events like ‘Soul Sisters’ raising funds for the YWCA, ‘Catwalk for Water’ in support of WaterAid and more.
Her love for hair started at a very early age, with dolls and barbies of course, but then moved onto experimenting with cutting and styling on pretty much any one that would let her! Her most favorite part of her job is transforming people with a new hair cut and colour. The ability to put a smile on someone’s face and grow their self confidence in just a hair appointment is what keeps her going everyday.
When Alison is not behind the chair she spends her time with her husband and son, and will never turn down drinks and chats with her closest friends.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great environment. I'm always anxious going into salons because they are NOT my style but The Room is professional and diverse and all around comfortable to be in. I went twice last July. Both were formal hairdos. One was done by a beginner (who apparently was still on her 1st week there) but I have to mention it because it showed me how the stylists care about both the client's needs and their coworker's success. In the end, a more experience stylist helped the beginner through my hair and it came out great! Loved this place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I recently got my hair done from The Room, LAKESHA was my stylist and she did a phenomenal job with my hair. She made me feel comfortable and relaxed during the whole 3hour long process. I would recommend her to everyone visiting this salon for the first time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hannah Almond is an amazing, friendly, and relatable stylist!
She asks plenty of questions to make sure that you walk out with what you were thinking as well as helping me get over being scared to just 'go for it' when it came to my hair haha!
Hannah gave me a total makeover after having almost the same hairstyle from age 8-20 and made me feel comfortable and confident after chopping my long hair and giving me the cutest curtain bangs!
The salon is fantastic in terms of COVID guidelines and I will for sure be returning to Hannah for all my future hair needs! <3

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is a lifesaver. Yesterday my usual hairdresser (at a different salon) was unable to make my appointment. I had over three inches of regrowth and some grossly faded blonde that I needed fixed that day and BADLY (I was going to meet my in-laws and first impressions matter). I was like ten minutes away from biting the bullet and using box colour (desperate times call for desperate measures and all), when these angels said they could get me in the same day, and they could get me in in two hours if that worked for me. I went to my appointment and it went beyond amazingly. Hannah spent closer to four hours colouring, toning, cutting and styling my hair. I left feeling beyond confident and pretty. The environment was super friendly and all the ladies they're were fabulous!also the pricing was more than fair. I definitely recommend and will be going back! These people are a angels ♥️

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was told about this salon by a friend, and I’m so glad she discovered it! Alena did a wonderful job with my thick, unruly hair. I hadn’t gone to a salon in so long because I felt that they were never able to treat my hair the way I wanted, but Alena knew what she was doing!! She was also just great to converse with. I’m so impressed and will definitely come back in the future.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ So for context, I’m a retired red seal hairstylist from Manitoba, and I moved to Saskatchewan so I no longer have an abundance of people I trust to cut my hair from being in the industry. Fawn cut my hair about a week ago, and as a trained professional it’s much easier to see imperfections, but anyone can see the faults in this. Fawn is an incredibly nice person, but her skills need some desperate work, rudimentary skills like cutting layers and trimming of ends are clearly lacking. My layers are “steps”, and my ends are uneven. Thanks but no thanks, I won’t be back.
