The Healthy Butcher

While I respect the right of others to wear masks, I don't respect a business that imposes masks on others. While I love their meats and prefer to shop local, I will not be shopping here any longer.

The best Organic meat and groceries I ever experienced in GTA with a large selection and cheerful staff. I love going to this store. Workshops are fun and very informative - we are planning to take another one soon with my wife and friends.

I’ve purchased lamb and beef from here before so I know that it is amazing and of high quality, but it was my first time purchasing dairy products from here. Great selection of quality, local, organic and healthy products. The Buffalo yoghurt is thick, rich and creamy. The staff are always kind, helpful and knowledgeable about the products. The store is always clean and well organized. Great experience, I highly recommend this store.

Healthy Butcher continues to enforce mandatory masks despite the expiry of the provincial requirement. While it's certainly their prerogative, I will be voting with my wallet and not shopping there. Masks are voluntary, don't impose them on others.

Yesterday, with some hesitation, went to this shop to pickup some meat to make kabob for my wife, the reason for my hesitation is because I’ve experienced poor customer service from the meat counter butchers when asked for a fresh cut as mostly of the very limited pre cut selection usually looks like it’s been at the counter for a couple of days. Spoke with a lady that was helpful but didn’t seem to be very knowledgeable, went back to the fridge indicating they don’t have fresh cuts beside what’s at he counter. This’s not unusual as I’ve experienced the same in the past, as was told by another butcher that since they were sold to the new company they no longer focus on walk in customers but rather wholesale. I ask for the manager Marc, which he become defensive, argumentative and disrespectful when I relayed my concern, mentioned that this seems to be a trend lately re. poor customer service and luck of fresh products this has come to the attention within the neighbourhood, he indicated that maybe the neighbors and myself are no knowledgeable of being a butcher and suggested we should educate ourselves.. I was astonished, mentioned that that’s not acceptable, further, I noticed some of the butchers in the back cutting room where laughing at our discussion. To add, we had previously experienced rotten produce a number of times in the past but my family felt frustrated with the poor customer service and didn’t felt comfortable to bring this up. I left the shop empty handed and decided to look up for alternative butcher shops in the area, drove to Bayview and Eglinton area large butcher shop and had an amazing inviting professional and welcoming experience, with a large array of freshly cut meats varieties, asked for a whole cut of top sirloin, the only question was “how big would you like it to be?” They went back and comeback with a whole freshly cut piece, end up picking up and array of pastas, sauces, vegetables bread and desserts. That’s the experience I was looking for!

Healthy Butcher is still enforcing a mandatory mask mandate even though it is officially provincially lifted ? Really liked having this conveniently located organic shop to go to for produce but will definitely not be returning with my business!

All dinner necessities in one place! I got myself some pork chops and veggies. Staff were very friendly and I loved the vibe. They are also keeping masks which I really appreciate! When your around food you can never be too careful! Thank you!!
