The Law Society's Great Library is an excellent place to conduct legal research, open to all. It is quiet, spacious and free. Though photocopying ..... not so much. ;)

The library place is fine but the complain lawyers legal system is a failure system ( regulated system) their officers only care to pick up kids from schools even work from home , they don't care how urgent the complain was and it took a while to confirm they received the complain ( one or two days should receive the mail in Ontario area)

The Great Library is one of my favourite places to study, research or just hang out and absorb the ambience of knowledge. As a Paralegal and a book lover, this place offers a sanctuary that is peaceful and educational.

Terrible experience covering up and refusing to investigate complaints relating to the bad behavior of their members. Investigation department I have been waiting over 1 year for your written statement "The lawyers can lie and steal and do whatever it takes to win." Put this in writing for everyone to see. A family member buys of condo SHELTER with a writ of seizure earning a lawyer 11% interest on $50,000.00 belonging to this young man. Insider trading by lawyers targeting all of us for their personal profit.

The Law Society of Ontario seems not to follow their own mandates nor the code of professional conduct -- they appear to have no concern for justice or fairness when assessing complaints against its own member's unethical conducts. I sense grave danger here for the general public. Is the next step to express this concern or complaint about the corrupt system to the Law Society Tribunal?

The customer service from the Licensing Department representatives is very poor for a body that oversees something that is extremely important to Ontario. I don't know what drives people to be so cold, robotic and to lack patience but it's frustrating. My general complaint was just the way that they deal with the registration deadlines for licensing examinations. Personally, I don't find that neither my college institution β€” Sheridan College or the LSO did their diligence and cooperation in educating paralegal candidates on how the licensing process works and how unaccommodating the LSO can be right off the bat. It's sad to think that a body that sets out so many rules to 2 professions can demand impeccable behaviour and duties yet it seems that they are exempted in how they respond to certain things, not responding to phone calls or emails even after 24 hours, how unorganized as a whole, whether that is the inconsistency of what the online announcements or updates on your profile account tells you, versus what the representatives actually tell you and so many other nuisances is just not acceptable. It's sad that we have to put all this money into everything from the get-go before we are even licensed and then after that it seems as if in the early stages they're coming across as despots with their strict response and lack of making exceptions. For example, they had all these requirements that they wanted done for a certain date in order to write the licensing exam on July 30th, yet their website kept giving us an "error 404" when trying to download this form. For starters, I don't even understand how this form is necessary when our college transcript is tangible proof that we have completed the placement β€” this is an added nuisance in the process that they could easily eliminate as a requirement β€” there is a whole complicated process that Sheridan College does in order to get a placement approved for the students such as, documenting the hours worked with detailed description and signatures, hand in essays, dockets; etc; then they verify it before honouring you the credit towards the completion of the field placement. The school tells you that all these strict requirements are due to the fact that they are required to as per the LSO. Therefore, the LSO is being notified via transcripts yet they want a field placement form too? it seems quite redundant and extremely unnecessary as a full rational individual. The LSO should put more effort in educating students on the actual licensing process while the students are in school or by having a more modern and simplified online profile for licensing candidates. Furthermore, if your website is not running properly you should most definitely make exceptions to people who cannot meet the deadlines, because it is essentially the LSO's fault and they should take responsibility for it, the representatives should not turn the table and manipulate the topic by telling us, or expecting us to navigate the website outside of the link within our licensing account to find another way to get the form as if I am an I.T. person or as if that was something I should have known was possible to do. The fees to write the exam are not inexpensive, the lack of support to me is unacceptable. What infuriates me even more is that the college was very hush about how the licensing process works. I know for a fact that this was not discussed because I never missed one class out of all my courses. I know that ultimately it is our responsibility, but the LSO as the body that governs the profession and dictates to colleges what expectations to meet should try to facilitate this process. Does the LSO and the College institutions not realize that they are teaching students who have never worked in the field or the majority of them do not know anything about the field outside of the material being taught? Guidance is imperative to have students succeed in a profession that is so highly regulated and won't even be enriching us to begin with.

I love working in this law library in Toronto - it's quiet, packed with resources (both print and digital), and a great place for research. The staff are amazingly helpful and courteous if you get stuck, or need some guidance or help finding material. Don't bring food in, leave the texts you have used on the desk and respect other library users and staff. I usually take a big bottle of water in and sin to stay a few hours.

We had a creative wedding photographer who spotted this place on the way to our reception. It was a weekend, the place was deserted, and he got many dozens of amazing photos here with the beautiful architecture.
