About The Downtown Commons
Ensuring that wealth generation in projects is shared, with a particular focus on narrowing the wealth and income gap between the rich and the poor. UWRC and UWCRC 2.0 works to achieve this through the development of local and global economies that provide opportunities for: cooperatives; employee owned enterprises; fair trade practices, and employment with some combination of good wages and benefits, career advancement opportunities, empowerment through participation and, increased self-esteem and financial security through ownership.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rent is okay but management won’t do anything about the constant false fire alarms caused by people smoking in the halls & stairwells. It’s gone off on average every 6 weeks, the most recent at 4am. It’s supposed to be a non smoking building but clearly it’s being ignored and disturbing everyone else in the building.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pros: Fun location near many restaurants and shops with very reasonable rent. Close to some bus stations as well. Building was kept clean and well maintained.
Cons: Closest grocery store was at minimum a 20 minute walk away. During the time that I lived there, several fire alarms went off, some in the middle of the night. Most of them were from people smoking. Lots of shady activity around the building as well, with no on-sight security. I was harassed several times by people who didn't live in the building and the building manager never did anything about it.
Parking is also a nightmare, you'd get ticketed if you were literally 1 minute late, if you were able to find parking at all. All the construction around the building was also a huge nuisance, I'm glad I moved out when I did.
