About The Cornerstone

Originally built as a dream house for our parents, this home was a space where our family gathered to celebrate not only some of life’s most monumental milestones but also to experience those intimate in-between moments of life. Here, our family watched Grandma make palacinke (crepes) in the kitchen, played in the fields and climbed over hay bales, picked raspberries, napped under the old apple tree, and discovered even more reasons to be grateful for our life.

Today, The Cornerstone is a family-owned business that is open for hosting memorable gatherings to celebrate family, friends, community, or work.

Our parents always made this house a home for everyone. Our staff is committed to carrying on the tradition of quality, beauty, and reliability that was passed on to us, ensuring that every visit to The Cornerstone is a memorable one.

Property is very nice, the owners made the wedding celebration end with everyone off the property by 12:45, thought that was super lame. I'd recommend this venue stay in your mind as more of a "Grandpa's 90th birthday" type venue.

Due to Covid we switched our reception location three months prior to our wedding date to accommodate an outdoor reception. We booked with the Cornerstone using their weekend package. The space is beautiful for for a moderately size tented reception. However, there were some flaws in communication that did throw us curveballs last minute and impact our special day. For us there were a few discrepancies between what we were told in person while looking at the venue vs what was said later on. The contract we were given did not reflect the information we were told by the owners and in fact did not even state anything about the time we needed to be off the property the night of our wedding. When we first did a walk through of the venue we asked what time we had to be out of the venue and we were told β€œthe music had to be turned down at midnight”. About 2 weeks before our wedding we were then told we had to turn down the music by 11pm and had to be out of the venue by midnight because they had to close the gates at 1am. We were extremely disappointed in hearing this and there was nothing of the sort written in the contract. We were able to negotiate a bit of a later end time (1245, but gates still closed at 1am). None of our guests were ready to leave at 1245 and we even had a few people offer to pay more so that we could stay later but they wouldn’t allow it. We can understand and appreciate every venues rules but had this been communicated properly to us from the beginning, we very well may have decided to book somewhere that allowed us to extend our special evening a bit more. The owner is very kind but again, lack of communication with us lead to the grass being watered right before the rental company came to install our tent and made it very difficult for them to set up. In the end our wedding was still beautiful but it was very stressful communicating with the owner and we felt there were a lot of unexpected and unnecessary surprises that could have been avoided. With it being a newer wedding venue it may be that they need to get a few things ironed out but it wasn’t an entirely smooth process for us.

Very beautiful scenic rural venue as my brother and his wife's wedding was held there recently. The estate home and grounds were impressive and they were well maintained. However, the parking arrangements provided were horrendous (20 spots in total in the designated parking area for 200 guests approximately) this could have been rectified if the establishment had opened the main gates and allowed parking alongside the long driveway leading up to the estate. Also, the area provided for the wedding party and helpers to prepare for the ceremony and reception was insufficient (one coffee table and 2 chairs in the basement as a change room). Most concerning was the lack of washroom facilities (1 washroom in the home's basement - hidden in a back corner) this was very far from the main gathering area (gazebo and tent). For almost 200 guests this was unacceptable as many guests stood in line desperately as we all waited to use the washroom. After eating and drinking it was an especially long line to use that single washroom (Porta-Poties Perhaps?). The lack of power to the gazebo/dance area was extremely inconvenient as well, a generator was rented to provide power to the dance area amd reception tent. The one designated smoking area was also far across the property resulting in those who smoked having to walk far away and in a dark unlit area (scary for some since coyotes were howling nearby at night). The lack of lighting in all areas was a large safety hazard as the night went on as going through treed path areas on gravel to the parking area without light provided unsure footing, especially for the ladies in heels). All in all though I'm sure the pictures will turn out incredibly as it was great location and estate on the exterior. However, the experience was mediocre based upon the issues provided above. Luckily my brother, his new wife's and the joy we all shared at their wedding overshadowed those minor inconveniences. We all wish them both years of love & happiness. Cheers!

Hidden gem in Edmonton. This is such a beautiful venue! So many great places for pictures, beautiful architecture and plenty of parking. The owner and staffs are so sweet and they treat you like they’ve known you forever. Christina is amazing and was so helpful the entire way through. Our wedding was a garden wedding and she even made arrangements for us just in case it rains. If you’re looking for a unique venue, Cornerstone is definitely the place.

My wife and I had the pleasure of booking our wedding ceremony at Cornerstone and have absolutely nothing negative to say about our experience. From the moment we reserved them as our ceremony location to the day-of, Christina and her team were always in touch with us and making sure everything was perfect. On the day of, she was bringing water to everyone and keeping us fed with doughnuts while also taking behind-the-scenes pictures. They also made sure that we had to do no setup beyond our personal decor, and had the chairs lined up exactly how we wanted and the pergola set where we wanted it to be. Even when we had a small emergency and didn’t have enough chairs ordered in, Christina managed the situation and brought in extra benches, making sure everything was exactly what we wanted. The Cornerstone was a lovely venue and we plan to highly recommend it to any of our friends or family searching for a beautiful location to be married. Thank you so much Christina and team!

Our team has been blessed to have worked with the Cornerstone since they started and it's such an amazing venue. Their attention to detail and care for the property are second to none I've seen. It's a wonderful place for any event.
